It was last November when six-time bracelet winner and the former face of PokerStars Daniel Negreanu surprised the poker fraternity by announcing that he was joining GGPoker as the online poker site`s brand ambassador. The fast-growing poker site boasts of a cutting-edge mobile app, and user-friendly features and has the all-time money leader Bryn Kenney representing it along with a seven-player roster of Twitch streamers.

Just days into 2020, one of Brazil’s top-ranked poker pros, Felipe ‘Mojave’ Ramos, has joined GGPoker as an ambassador. Ramos, who has more than a decade of experience playing poker professionally, is a mixed games specialist with over $2.6 Million in live tournament winnings. Like Negreanu, Ramos once represented the Red Spade but left the brand’s roster in January 2018.

Joining hands with the brand only gives more reason for Ramos, who has recently been blessed with a daughter, to celebrate!

In a blog post on the site, GGPoker officially announced and welcomed Ramos on-board.

GGPoker had this to say of Ramos – “An advocate for the crucial mental element of the sport in which he has built an impressive career in such a short time, his trademark hashtag #pokerlifestyle has not only introduced new players to poker but influenced his peers to rethink and improve their own mental strategy and lifestyle.”

GGPoker also announced the new collaboration on Twitter.

Fellow Team Pro Negreanu also welcomed Ramos to the GGPoker pro team roster.

Joining GGPoker – What It Means for Ramos

Ramos was part of the PokerStars roster of brand ambassadors for nearly two-and-half years before parting ways with the Red Spade in January 2018.

At the time, Ramos had indicated in his tweets that he had not been able to reach a new agreement with PokerStars. “We did not reach an agreement, and it is time to move on. The company’s priorities have changed. I am a Poker Ambassador, I build player base, I inspire people to play poker and help them to start and keep going – That will always be my number 1 priority.”

In 2019, Ramos had announced that he had joined online poker start-up ‘Players Come First’ and will be representing the poker room on Microgaming Poker Network (MPN) as a brand ambassador. With MPN on its way to a complete shutdown this May, a brand collaboration with GGPoker is possibly an intelligent professional decision from Ramos.

This new chapter in Ramos’ professional career is coming at a time when he is on the anvil of launching his new training program and his own clothing line.

Bringing Ramos On-Board – The Right Move For GGPoker

GGPoker launched in 2014 and has primarily focused its operations to Asia until very recently. In recent years, the brand has expanded its presence in Canada, Europe, and South America and even roped in the services of Bryn Kenney in March 2018.

GGPoker has a gaming license from the UK Gambling Commission. It has collaborated with a Sweden-based online gambling firm called Enlabs to offer online poker services in Estonia and Latvia.

Last year in November, GGPoker also managed to bring on-board one of the biggest names in poker, Daniel Negreanu. Sources confirmed that the GGPoker has inked a multi-year deal with Negreanu that involves a more significant financial component as compared to Negreanu’s 12-year sponsorship deal with PokerStars.

Just about a week later, GGPoker was back in the news for pulling out of 12 countries, mostly in Europe. They were, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, Lithuania, Poland, Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, and Switzerland, along with Georgia on the Europe-Asia border and Colombia in South America. According to GGPoker, the decision was made owing to regulatory issues in these markets with plans to re-enter once legal conditions are more explicit.

Bringing Ramos to the team seems to be part of its expansion move to improve its standing in Latin America.
