It’s been a crazy week in the poker world and at the center of it was Mike’ The Mouth’ Matusow. Expectedly, the poker legend made quite the fool of himself after he ranted about getting slow-rolled during a WSOP online event. He threatened the player in question who turned out to be Megan “wolverine17” Milburn. But the player being a woman wasn’t enough to get ‘The Mouth’ to shut up. Needless to say, the poker Twitterati had a field day shredding Matusow to pieces.
Where Matusow was being reigned down for his erratic behavior, Rob Yong was being applauded for taking a stand against the unfair practices of online poker sites.
Even ‘Kid Poker,’ Daniel Negreanu, got praise for his efforts to stay healthy. He took to Instagram to reveal that the ‘bulking up’ part of his vegan diet was underway.
Mike Matusow Threatens Player After Getting Slow-Rolled in WSOP Online Event
We have said it before, and we’ll say it again. Mike Matusow’s nickname, ‘The Mouth’, is well deserved. The four-time WSOP bracelet winner does have a knack for running his mouth, almost always with regrettable consequences. His latest tirade came during the $1,000 No-Limit Hold ’em Freezeout event.
Allen “Acnyc718” Chang won the event after defeating an 854-strong entry field to claim the coveted WSOP bracelet, along with a $161,286 top prize.
Matusow wasn’t that lucky. Like many others, the poker legend has been live-streaming his progress throughout the ongoing WSOP online series. While most of his content has been well received, his rant on Sunday was widely criticized by many within the community.
This is what happened. Matusow got dealt Ace-Queen in the big blind. Megan “wolverine17” Milburn held pocket rockets in the small blind. She raised 350 and Matusow 3-bet to 4,410. Milburn tanked for a while before calling to see the flop open 9-4-10. Milburn checked, and Matusow moved all-in for 15,385. Milburn tanked again before finally calling and ultimately took down the pot as the remaining two streets brought 2-J.
The apparent slow-roll wasn’t to Matusow’s liking. While the YouTube video has been removed from Matusow’s channel; however, with the internet being what it is today, glimpses of the live stream were shared by other people.

Just weeks ago, Matusow had compared the compulsory wearing of face masks to the highly sensitive topic of abortion. His faux pas continued when, not knowing that his opponent was a female, he made a sexually suggestive threat.
Matusow continued his rant while on his YouTube live-stream. As he often does, the unabashed Donald Trump supporter turned a non-political issue into a political issue.
“I tell you what, I’d lay $100 to $1 that the guy’s a Leftist, anti-American piece of s**t,” he said.
He then sought the name of the “guy” who slow-rolled him to soon find out his opponent was a woman. Matusow again made an assumption about her political leanings.

“I won’t hit no woman, I’ll just call her a c*** that she is when I see her,” Matusow declared.
“Probably one of those f*****g crazy Leftist people yelling ‘black lives matter,’ and you’re all racist in the street,” he assumed.
Refusing to move on, Matusow then fired off an insulting tweet, which he would later delete. But as they say, nothing on the internet ever truly goes away.
Astonishingly classy response by @PokerHippie after being threatened with physical and sexual assault by an unhinged lunatic. pic.twitter.com/9281tqXGE3

Milburn responded to the deleted tweet. The slow roll wasn’t intentional, she said, “but the next one might be tho.”
The Twitterati had a lot to say about Matusow’s rant as well.
Watch these 3 videos. This goes beyond a moment of tweet rage. This is not ok and should not be tolerated. I hope the brands associated with this man take decisive action https://t.co/xeDRGlON5i

I feel like my truly, truly, truly shitty farm internet has saved me nearly 5 months of stress from from clicking on things I just don’t need to see but would normally watch for morbid curiosity. https://t.co/1U0ruwTEWg

Imagine this waste of space threatening you, live on stream, for the way you played a poker hand.
NOW, imagine that it isn’t you in the hand, but a female you care about.
And LOL at Mike Matusow knocking anybody out. https://t.co/ZFKH36nnVb

Stepped back to Twitter for 5 minutes to check my DMs and saw this.
Literally embarrassed to be part of a community that hasn’t yet ‘canceled’ @themouthmatusow in some form.
The fact that this man still has any kind of public profile makes the entire industry look terrible. https://t.co/2YAulq1lLt

Apparently poker is now political as well.
Inappropriate, shameful, and appaling. You can also look up his “apology” tweet. Dude acts like he’s 6.@Twitch if this were anyone else they would have been banned like yesterday. Please uphold the same standards here. https://t.co/BFsFTIzkIv

Lmfaoooo I’ll slow roll the FUCK outta Matusow if I ever play him https://t.co/NV5zRxPWfN

Hey @themouthmatusow strong people apologize when they have been out of line and you owe her an apology. Be strong- admit you were in the wrong and let’s move on.

When contacted by PocketFives’ Lance Bradley, WSOP’s Ty Stewart issued the following statement on the incident.
“We take prevention of abusive behavior at WSOP tournaments or on the WSOP.COM platform extremely seriously. We have a number of preventive measures online including recently disabling our chat entirely. But the regulation of content on our customer’s personal streams and social media accounts is a slippery slope, particularly as each of these third-party platforms have their own escalation procedures. We reserve the right to suspend the account of any individual going forward, but in this case, it appears the player had the perfect response to resolve the situation herself.”
Rob Yong Brings Questionable Practices of Online Poker Sites to the Fore
On July 7, Dusk Till Dawn Casino owner Rob Yong shared a tweet talking about some of the nefarious practices implemented by online poker sites.
Yong, a partner at the leading international online poker site, partypoker, shared his views on how poker sites inflate their MTT prize pools and their questionable marketing tactics.

He discussed how recreational and professional players would suffer, and also stated that if the practices continued then, “existing player pools will shrink”.
His views were much appreciated by the poker community, with many lauding him for sharing his opinions.
doing great things Rob, keep it up!

Well said. Also, payouts are still too top-heavy. Min cashes should be 1.75x- 2.0x buy-in and 15% of the field should be paid.

Commendable effort as usual, I agree in general I have a few points:
– long or added levels are not inherently a bad thing. I say this as someone who enjoys turbos and would play party more than once a month if there was a better offering of these

Even former WSOP bracelet winner and Run It Once founder, Phil Galfond, who is essentially Yong’s competitor, retweeted his message.
Daniel Negreanu Completes Shred Phase of Vegan Diet, Looking to Bulk Up
About two weeks ago, social media had exploded with concern for six-time WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu, who in a picture posted on Instagram was looking leaner than ever before. The GGPoker ambassador had laid everyone’s mind to rest by clarifying that he was on a vegan diet and was shredding before getting to bulking up.
Well, the wait is finally over. Negreanu recently shared images on Instagram, stating that the shredding part of his diet was over and that he was looking forward to ‘bulking up.’
“Shred complete! All done losing weight and looking forward to bulking back up. Went from 176 to 138.6 and plan to get back to 160 ish over the next year,” wrote the Candian pro.
He also credited Vegan Coach Fritz Horstmann for his transformation, saying that the coaching plan was “a fun, easy, and enlightening journey.”
The reactions have also been pouring in.
chaunwilliams said “Hell yeah! Way to go! ⚡️⚡️⚡️“
realjenniferharman fawned, “Wow!!! You have never looked like this since I’ve know you. Proud friend:)))”
tomasifreestocks joked, “What happened to all the fat guys with the skinny jokes? I guess they get it now… Go get it bro? #liff”
As you can see for yourself, Negreanu certainly looks good. We hope that he successfully accomplishes his goals, maybe even wins that elusive seventh bracelet!
