The writing has been on the walls for quite some time now that India’s only female WSOP bracelet winner Nikita Luther (cover image) had parted ways with Adda52. The news has now been confirmed with Spartan Poker announcing that Luther is their latest Team pro!

On June 23, Spartan Poker made the announcement on social media.

PokerGuru caught up with India’s poker superwoman, who told us what it meant for her to be joining Spartan Poker as a Team pro.

“I am thrilled to join the Spartan Poker family. They are the most innovative online poker platform in the country, and I am looking forward to working with them to help grow awareness about this beautiful game in the country. I am glad to be part of such a dynamic and prestigious brand.”

Though this is an exciting new collaboration, this isn’t Luther’s first stint as a Team pro. She has previously been a part of Thrill Poker’s pro team before joining the ranks at Adda52 in 2016. While no formal announcement was made regarding her departure from the latter, the signs were all there.

As early as February, Luther began playing on Spartan Poker and even finished fourth in the Millionaire Legends for ₹24.13 Lakhs. She also hosted ‘Pinkvilla Goes Live’ in association with Spartan Poker in April.

In fact, her former teammate and another former Adda52 Team Pro Kunal Patni had revealed at the time of his departure from the brand, that Adda52 was looking to discontinue their pro program.

Taking all these factors into consideration, Luther switching to Spartan Poker is the most ideal amalgamation between a top-class poker pro and one of India’s leading online poker operators.

Luther has undoubtedly flourished in her professional poker career. Some of her prominent wins in the last three years include the Teams Event title that she won at the Macau Poker Cup 26 in 2017, followed by her career-highlight Tag Team bracelet at the 2018 WSOP. She also claimed her first-ever DPT title in the ₹15K Deep Dive event at the 2019 DPT February edition.

Another of her standout accomplishments includes the two final table finishes that she made at the WPT500 ARIA in a span of three years. Her first deep run was in 2017 (5th for $65,000), followed by an even better showing last year (runner-up for $109,300).

Her spectacular performance all through 2019 eventually earned her the GPI India Player of the Year title in the women’s category.

Apart from a thriving poker career, Luther has considerable experience working on the business side of things as well. She has been a part of the core team at the Poker Sports League (PSL) for which she served as the Chief Operations Officer (COO). Being one of the most recognizable faces in the domestic circuit, Luther helped build the brand from the ground up.

Sharing their excitement on welcoming Luther to the team, Spartan Poker’s Managing Director, Amin Rozani, said, “We are very happy to welcome our women ambassador, who is also the only Indian female poker player to have won the prestigious WSOP gold bracelet, Nikita Luther! She is one of the most respected and prominent figures of our poker community and a true role model of upcoming poker players. We hope that our collaboration will help spread this beautiful game to more people.”
