The India Poker Championship (IPC) August Edition hangover has hardly settled, leaving in its wake a craving for more. So here’s news of the next IPC, a perfect dose of anticipation and excitement, coming on Oct 7, barely over a month from today.

Once again, India’s fastest growing online poker site, Spartan Poker are the title sponsors of the series, and if you are dreaming of making it to Deltin Goa for the next IPC, you can now do it for a fraction of the cost, with low buy-in satellites starting this coming Monday, Aug 31.

The IPC will returns with its 5th Edition this season on Oct 7 and will run for five days up to Oct 11. Organizers have decided to drop the 60K High Roller introduced for the very first time in August, but have indicated that the event will most likely be making a return in the season finale in December. “We got a really good response to our very first Highroller but at the same time we don’t intend for it to be a regular part of all the remaining 2015 editons. In all likelihood it will be a bigger buyin event in our final edition of the year,” said Peter Abraham of the IPC.

The other change from the last edition is that the Greed event has been replaced with a bounty tournament i.e. 8K Knockout event.

Reviving Goa`s Tournament Scene

The Goa poker scene was almost stagnant last year and with the return of the IPC in Jan, this dramatically changed. In the interim months with four editions under its belt this season, the IPC has clearly emerged as India`s most prestigious tournament series.

The series has not only revived a vibrant poker scene in Goa, but has provided the new generation of upcoming players with a professional platform to test their skills.

In January alone, the series saw an India-first of 212 entries at its Main Event. The final winner of this field was Sumit Asrani, who pocketed a hefty ₹13.5 Lakhs, one of the largest payouts in the country.

It was just the beginning, because the April edition saw the number of entries rise to 236 for the Main Event and subsequently Kanishka Samant was the champion, taking home a payday of ₹11.5 Lakhs.

A slight dip was witnessed in the June edition, when only 164 entries registered for the Main Event, but the August Edition once again proved that the IPC was here to stay, when it broke all previous records with 248 entries in the Main Event.

Delhi-based debutant, Abhishek Ravi topped that field to claim the title and collected the largest-ever IPC Main Event prize of ₹16.4 Lakhs.

The August edition was a smasher in several other ways, with the introduction of two new events – The 60K High Roller and the 8K Greed events. The High Roller had an unprecedented turnout of 140 players and Priyesh M was the winner, collecting ₹16.24 Lakhs for his efforts.

Additionally, the 10K Kickoff saw a record 319 players participating and Arsh Grover was the last player standing, taking home ₹6.8 Lakhs for his efforts.

The October IPC will once again have Spartan Poker as its title sponsor. The online site had run a two-month long satellite series for the August edition and an impressive 46 players had won seats to the series worth ₹15.29 Lakhs.

What’s more, a number of players used those low buy in Spartan qualifiers to not only reach the IPC, but went on to convert them into a payday of several lakhs!

If you are one of those dreaming of an autumn in Goa amidst the flurry and buzz of the IPC aboard the luxurious Deltin Royale, log onto Spartan Poker now and get ready for the online satellites starting in just a few days!

Starting this Monday, Aug 31, Spartan will begin its satellites for IPC October Edition and who knows, it just might be you winning a purse in Lakhs at one of the forthcoming IPC events, much as Anudeep Srinivas or Rajeev Kanjani did in the August Edition.
