GGPoker sure does know how to make a splash! At the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, in the middle of the largest flight of the 2021 World Series of Poker Reunion, GGPoker rolled out the red carpet to announce high-stakes crusher Jason Koon as the new addition to GGPoker’s team of Global Ambassadors.

Koon will join the ranks of the company’s other ambassadors like Daniel Negreanu, Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, Dan Bilzerian, and Fedor Holz in representing GGPoker both in live and online events.

“I’m really excited to join GGPoker, particularly so soon after they’ve taken a leading role in the poker world,” said Koon. “I’m also thrilled to be in a position to help with game security and player advocacy, making GGPoker an even better place to play our favorite game.”

Hailing from West Virginia, the 36-year-old is a well-known personality on the international poker scene and a bonafide high stakes MTT crusher. He boasts of $32 Million in live tournament winnings, including multiple high roller titles, and features prominently in the top 10 all-time money list.

This isn’t Koon’s first foray into ambassadorship. He’s had ties with both Triton Poker and partypoker in the past. In 2019, Koon was signed on by Triton Poker as their brand ambassador. The same year, he shipped back-to-back titles in the Triton Poker High Roller Series Jeju, in Event #5: HK$1 Million Short-Deck Ante-Only and Event #7: HK$1 Million NLHE – Triton Refresh.

According to a presser by GGPoker, Koon’s focus as an ambassador will be much broader and encompass strengthening the poker room’s security and game integrity efforts, and acting as an advocate for high roller, VIP, and high-volume players.

Talking about GGPoker’s vision regarding their Team of Ambassadors, John Scanlon, Director of Sponsorships & Live Events at GGPoker, said, “At GGPoker, we view ambassadors as part of our overall team. We want them as bought into keeping GGPoker the #1 site in the world as we are. Jason’s reputation and how he handles himself personally and professionally make him an ideal Global Ambassador. Having a player of his caliber providing advice and direction, and representing the most committed segment of our player community, is invaluable for us.”

During the announcement of Koon becoming GGPoker’s newest team addition, the poker superstar answered a few questions. When asked about the difference between his new deal with GGPoker and his previous work as an ambassador, Koon said, “The biggest difference immediately is just the scale of everything. My past deal with [partypoker], my relationship with them was fantastic and I had a really good four years there. For GGPoker, the biggest difference is they want to improve their software. I was always a little frustrated that we couldn’t create a new offering in software at [partypoker]. GGPoker is doing everything they can do to make the player experience as quick and efficient as it can be. Just the growth, not only with the online product but expanding with lots of things that you’ll see in the live poker realm in tournaments and cash game – a lot of things to improve the customer experience.”

Koon’s addition to Team GGPoker does give the brand a formidable edge, given that the company is now neck-to-neck with the more established PokerStars for market dominance. Once an Asia-facing gaming operator, GGPoker has taken the online poker industry by storm in the past few years, undertaking a massive expansion to emerge as one of the leading online poker operators globally.
