On Aug 6, Jason ‘jcarverpoker’ Somerville (cover image) tweeted about a new two-year agreement with Twitch TV that would resume airing his show “Run it UP” (RIU) from Sunday, August 16.

“very excited to have signed a new 2-year partnership with @Twitch! daily #runitup streams set to return August 16th!

The streaming show player also announced his first ever live poker festival – “Run it UP Reno.” This six-day event will run from Oct 20 to 25

Besides the above, the player was also chosen to star as a poker analyst along with legend Phil Hellmuth in a new poker series – Poker Night: The Tour, set to be telecast in early 2016.

Somerville has come a long way since his break-up last Oct with Ultimate Poker, where he ran his “Run it UP” web series. Ultimate Poker withdrew from the New Jersey market after its partners Trump Taj Mahal Associates LLC filed for bankruptcy. The pro continued his telecast on Twitch and by Feb the hard work paid off, with PokerStars signing him up as a Team pro, besides launching Season 3 of his popular show, “Run it UP.”

Season 2 of the series had run from March through May, where Somerville had live streamed it for a continuous 78 days, increasing his followers to 100,000 people, with about three million people tuning in to his stream!

The past few months, this viewership saw a decline with Somerville off travelling to Vegas for WSOP and then for the PokerStars grassroots campaign with the “Let California Play.”

Now the pro will be back with his dedicated show, which players can catch for free or subscribe at $4.99 a month to access extras, such as special programs, and archives access.

The new live event “Run it UP Reno” will be hosted at the picturesque locales of the Peppermill Reno and will end with a $500 Main Event! It will be the first stand-alone event of RIU and more about a great experience while playing poker.

While speaking about this event to Pokernews, Somerville stated that, “The RIU Reno series is unlike anything that has ever really existed before in poker. For me, RIU Reno is not just about playing poker, but also having a fun experience from the get go. I’m trying to invite a variety of interesting people that are going to come and make the event special regardless of how your poker goes, regardless whether or not your aces hold up during the tournament, you’re still going to have a good time.

The event will be choc-a-bloc with festivities with seminars and even a “Survivor” television viewing party! Considering that Somerville is a huge “Survivor” fan, it is not surprising to find him hinting that a “Survivor” celebrity would be part of the event, though he refuses to name who.

Speaking about the Main Event, Somerville revealed that it was the very first event, specifically designed for Twitch TV and its final table would be streamed live. He added that should he not survive to the final table, he would be the commentator.

PokerStars will soon be offering players a chance to qualify for the event through satellites and Somerville advises those wanting to attend to book hotel accommodation now through the site runitupreno.com.

Somerville added that the final structures and schedule would be exclusively supervised by him and released over the next few days. The Twitch star that the event would not be short on fun with a full slate of cash games also running alongside.

I played about 100 sessions of five-card PLO during the last stream, and I am guaranteeing you for sure there will be five-card pot-limit Omaha cash games running at the Peppermill during this tournament series,” Somerville declared. “For me, man, I’m trying to make things as fun as possible.”

Somerville also elaborated on Twitch TV calling it the next internet phenomenon and said, “The fourth-most trafficked website on the internet to Facebook, Netflix, and Hulu, so that’s pretty cool to be spearheading the Twitch Poker phenomenon. I’ve really enjoyed seeing the community blossom over the last year.”
