Online skill-gaming company Junglee Games Private Ltd has roped in Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn as the brand ambassador for its online rummy platform Junglee Rummy. Immediately after the signing, it rolled out a national campaign, ‘Rummy bole toh Junglee Rummy’ across television, digital media, OTT, and social media platforms.

The commercial went live in multiple languages across platforms like TV, digital media, radio, music-streaming platforms, OTT, and cinemas, on February 17.

 

The number of Indian gamers is expanding at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12% and is expected to jump to 700 Million in FY25 from 507 million in 2021, said a report by Dentsu titled Gaming Report India 2022 – For the Game.

The report said 46% of gamers in India are women and that real money game revenues currently constitute 57% of the market size. Still, future growth is projected to be driven by in-app purchases growing at a 34% CAGR. There were 120 million paying users in FY22, representing a 24% conversion rate.

Celebrity endorsements have played a significant role in endearing real money online games to the masses. You may have a fantastic product to sell, but the proposition looks all the better when there’s a famous, well-accepted face swearing by it. Celebrity endorsements are an advertising tradition that has weathered the test of time. A practice most brands pursue to leverage the vast fan acceptability that celebrities enjoy.

In 2022, Shahid Kapoor (PokerBaazi), Jim Sarbh (MPL Poker), Hrithik Roshan (RummyCircle), and Shah Rukh Khan (A23) were among the top-billed Bollywood celebrities roped in by online gaming companies as brand ambassadors.

The Tanhaji actor is not the only Bollywood A-lister signed by an online gaming company in 2023. Salman Khan was roped in by Cashgrail Private Limited-owned Zupee, on February 17, as its brand ambassador.

Before Devgn, Junglee Rummy worked with famous South movie stars Prakash Raj and Rana Daggubati in 2018. In 2019, the company onboarded Gujarati actors Malhar Thakar and Aarohi Patel as brand ambassadors.
