Yesterday, renowned twitch streamer and Canadian poker pro Kevin Martin (cover image) announced his retirement from Twitch via a video that he shared on Twitter. The Big Brother Canada winner has also exited partypoker Team Online after a short four-month stint.

It’s been an amazing ride!

In the video, Martin goes on to explain that he has accomplished what he wished for as a streamer saying, “Number one, I wanted to become a winning player. I never became a super sick online crusher or anything but we did become a winning player.”

“Number two, I wanted to entertain people and that void in my life has been filled as well. I am really enjoying some other things and I think I am going to take my career in a different way,” he added.

On his departure from Team partypoker, Martin said, “I’m resigning from Team partypoker, I wish those guys the best.”

Martin, however, is not parting ways with poker completely as he intends to continue playing recreationally. He clarified, “I’ll be around. I’ll still play poker still a ton, a little more recreationally and I’ll be around on some Twitch streams once in a while. But for me as a content creator, the journey is finished.”

Martin’s Poker Journey

Martin, who is a former radio presenter, started his poker journey by playing low-limit cash games and slowly fell in love with the game. He turned pro in 2014.

Martin has a massive fan following on Twitch today with over 84,000 followers and was one of the first breeds of streamers having started poker streaming way back in 2015. The very next year, PokerStars inducted him as a part of their Team PokerStars Pro Online where he donned the Red Spade path for almost three years.

While he was with PokerStars, Martin who had previously finished ninth in Big Brother Canada (2015), returned to the small screen and famously went on to win the TV show in 2017.

A successful poker player, he made almost $300,000 in profits from live and online felts last year. He left PokerStars to join partypoker Team Online in May this year before announcing his retirement from streaming on September 6.
