It’s been a while since the self-proclaimed ‘King of Instagram’ Dan Bilzerian was in the spotlight. Last we had heard of him, the founder and CEO of Ignite had gotten into a war of words with Doug Polk. Well, finally, Bilzerian is back in the news as the latest addition to Team GGPoker!
On December 3, GGPoker announced that Bilzerian had joined Team GGPoker as a brand ambassador. One of the world’s most recognizable poker players and social media influencers, with over 32 million followers on Instagram, ‘Blitz’ will represent the brand live and online.

The signing follows deals with notables like Daniel Negreanu, who ended his 12-year role with PokerStars before joining GGPoker, as well as top-ranked players Fedor Holz, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, and Felipe Ramos. It marks the second mainstream celebrity to work with the operator, with GGPoker previously partnering with tennis legend Boris Becker.
GGPoker will celebrate the signing with a $100,000 freeroll that coincides with Bilzerian’s 40th birthday on December 7.
Bilzerian joining GGPoker got a lot of reaction on Twitter, and not all of it was positive. Given how contentious Bilzerian’s image has been over the years due to his extravagant and lavish lifestyle and often absurd claims of being the winningest player in private, high-stakes cash games, this kind of reaction was expected.
Dan Bilzerian becoming a GG poker ambassador is the equivalent of me becoming an ambassador for GQ

Hot on the heels of @DanBilzerian Who should @GGPoker sign as their next ambassador?
Wrong answers only
— Max Silver (@max_silver) December 3, 2020
Yuck.
This guy’s audience is a bunch of toxic losers – literally the worst kind we could add to our community.
Feels extra gross given how he treats women like literal props.
Super disappointing GG, lot of us loved what you’d been doing.

Why is everyone on here talking about him being broke instead of being appalled that he is apparently a misogynist? There are several women who clearly agree who know him. That seems horrifying. But everyone cares about his bank account. I don’t give a duck how much $$ he has

This isn’t a good look.

Just google his name and this is what comes up……. seems like he has so much money to spend on your site….. pic.twitter.com/AR4ViWs66r

Aaaand poker is dead
— Stefan Hansen (@sjokoladeboller) December 3, 2020
Hey GG,
You know this troglodyte isn’t an actual poker player, right?
— Ryan Davis (@rynersafety) December 4, 2020
Lots of people are saying mean things about Dan Bilzerian, but I’ll try to add some positivity. He is truly gifted at getting other people to make bad decisions.
— Isaac Haxton (@ikepoker) December 4, 2020
As usual, the only person on Bilzerian’s side was his friend Bill Perkins.
This is funny but the fact is @DanBilzerian has made more money in poker than the entire squad of Truck Drivers. Now that’s mainly due to game selection but still #1 Armenian poker player. https://t.co/746reCYhdu

While the overall poker community wasn’t exactly welcoming to Bilzerian’s appointment as a GGPoker brand ambassador, six-time WSOP bracelet winner Negreanu was all for it.
GGPoker making all the moves! When it comes to poker and mainstream reach, there isn’t a bigger influencer in the world.
Welcome aboard @DanBilzerian.
Stay tuned for some sick promotions… https://t.co/ReEZ7zUtnd
— Daniel Negreanu (@RealKidPoker) December 3, 2020
Negreanu is right in believing that Bilzerian joining GGPoker is sure to boost the brand’s social media presence.
“Dan joining Team GGPoker is a huge win! No one in poker has a bigger reach than Dan. He has won millions in cash games and isn’t afraid to get into the mix against the sharks in the high-stakes streets at GGPoker!”
In addition to poker, Bilzerian is known for being an ‘influencer.’ His not-safe-for-work social media pages have earned him the nickname the ‘King of Instagram.’ The 39-year-old has nearly 33 million followers on the platform, where he is known for showing off his exotic travels, collection of weapons, stacks of cash, and a seemingly endless stream of half-naked women.
Commenting on becoming a part of GGPoker, Bilzerian said, “In these crazy times, GGPoker is the best option to get my poker on – they cater to the recreational players, and that’s the future of poker, not a bunch of math nerds. I’ve battled guys from the $2 buy-in to the $200,000 buy-in tables at GGPoker, and will be working with GG to make cash game tables even better for the average player out there.”
