Loni Harwood (cover image) collected her second WSOP bracelet on Friday, July 31 at the 5th WSOP National Championship at Harrah’s Cherokee, along with the winner’s share of $341,599.

The pro had had an significant year in 2013, when she added 6 WSOP cashes for $874,698, made three final tables, and won a bracelet in a $1,500 no-limit hold’em event to her kitty of 2 WSOP Circuit rings. In 2014, Harwood chose to tend to an ailing mother, who ultimately passed away.

With this win, Harwood has now accumulated the second biggest score of her career and lifetime earnings of $1,627,485.

After winning this $10,000 buy-in event, Harwood dedicated it to her late mother and thanked her brother saying, “I wanna shout out to my brother, Scott Harwood. He’s one of my best friends. He’s always there for me. He wanted to be here today, but he works and he couldn’t get the day off. He’s been on the virtual rail and I’m sure he’s waiting for a phone call right now.”

The event drew a player-crowd of 122, which included those who made it on the backs of qualifiers. Some of the known pros in the fray were Phil Hellmuth, Jeff Madsen, John Monnette, Scott Clements, and defending champ Dominik Nitsche.

Nitsche was the only one to make the money, finishing at 15th place for $20,594.

The 3-day event saw Harwood take an almost double chip lead over the nearest competitor on the final day, with just 7 players left. She began on aggressive note, eliminating Paul Mattioda in 7th place.

Daniel Negreanu was next to exit in 6th place, busted by Alex Masek.

The fight soon came to just Harwood and Masek in a heads up play.
