Day 2 of the Macau Poker Cup (MPC) 24 Red Dragon Main Event saw 259 hopefuls returning for a shot at the title, and after six-levels of play, only 55 players were able to make it to Day 3. A total of 1,075 entries turned up to make this the largest-ever Red Dragon field in the history of the tour. A bigger accomplishment is the fact that this is also the largest-ever live freezeout tournament hosted in the Asia-Pacific region.

After a successful Day 1C that saw eight Indian players make the cut for Day 2, only two from the team were able to proceed to Day 3. Shravan Chhabria (147,000) and Alok Agrawal (135,000) are the two Indian still in contention for one of the best looking trophies on the circuit! With Chhabria and Agrawal assured to take home at least HK $31,250, two other Indians, Pranay Kapoor (73rd for HK $29,000) and Vidur Sethi (133rd for HK $22,300) cashed in the main event today.

259 players took their seats at PokerStars LIVE Macau on Wednesday afternoon for Day 2, and by the times the chips were bagged, it was Day 1B chip leader Kamel Mokhammad who emerged the chip leader with 905,000 chips. Trailing him are Hong Kong’s Yiu Wah Kwok (715,000) and China’s Tianhong Su (712,000) in second and third place respectively.

124 players from the 259 runners that started the day missed the money bus with Aman Dhamija, Raghav Bansal, Nikhil Maheswari and Dhaval Mudgal all hitting the rail early.

Some other notable eliminations of the day include Team PokerStars Pros Chen An Lin and Kosei Ichinose, reigning Red Dragon champion Yuefeng Pan (63rd for HK $31,250) and 2015 Asia Player of the Year Alan Lau (107th for HK $24,500).

Other notables advancing to Day 3 include Yang Zhang, Leon Hsu, Wayne Wei Yi Zhang, and former Red Dragon winner Tom Alner.

Mudgal and Bansal were next seen in action in the HK $4,000 Teams Event where the pair made it to the final table finishing sixth. Mudgal coincidentally was the defending champion in the event; he won this event with Akash Malik at MPC 23 in September last year.
