Neel Joshi Wins Vegas Freedom Special Tournament For ₹12.57 Lakhs, Tushar Jain Ships Freedom Whoop

Outlasting an impressive field of 576 entries, Neel Joshi (cover image) won the Vegas Freedom Special ₹40 Lakhs GTD Tournament at India’s most trusted poker site, PokerBaazi. The tournament was one of the two events hosted on August 15 as part of PokerBaazi’s Independence Day special, the ₹45 Lakhs GTD ‘Freedom Series’

Joshi, who is also known online by his moniker ‘Worm33’, won the top payday of ₹12.57 Lakhs for his efforts. The second tournament at the Freedom Series, the Freedom Whoop ₹5 Lakhs GTD was taken down by Tushar ‘tushar07’ Jain, who emerged triumphant over 157 entries to take home the top prize of ₹1.19 Lakhs.

Vegas Freedom Special ₹40 Lakhs GTD

The Vegas Freedom Special tournament kicked off at 7pm and featured a buy-in of ₹5,000 with a whopping ₹40 Lakhs guarantee. The enormous player field that totaled 576 entries (including 410 re-entries) obliterated the guarantee, creating a prize pool of ₹49.3 Lakhs.

“Really stoked about winning the Vegas Freedom Special tournament. I was having a really bad month so far, and this victory was just the confidence boost I needed,” Joshi said, after his win.

He went on to add, “PokerBaazi tournaments have a really nice structure. But what I like more about Baazi is their awesome customer support!”

63 players were to share a piece of the prize pool and the long online sweat continued for over nine hours. Most of the top 20 finalists were seasoned regulars but Joshi played solid on the nine-handed final table and despite starting with a below average stack, he managed to chip up after going all in a couple of times and eventually sealed the deal!

Finally, Joshi defeated Abhishek ‘ketchup’ Kumar in the heads-up play to claim the title, while Kumar bagged ₹7.14 Lakhs for his runner-up finish. Nitish ‘kickass’ Sharma finished third for ₹4.90 Lakhs.

Freedom Whoop ₹5 Lakhs GTDbegan at 8 pm on PokerBaazi and 157 entries made their way into the tournament, including 137 re-entries. The top 26 spots made it in the money and Tushar ‘tushar07’ Jain took top honors at the event for ₹1.19 Lakhs, followed by Niharika ‘nutcracker33’ Bindra, who finished second for ₹89,670.

The final table featured online regulars like PokerBaazi Team Pro Maria Kirloskar, Guruprasad ‘fish_calling’ Gupta, Akshay ‘sherlock52’ Nasa and Siddharth ‘Siddonuts’ Pandey.
