It was on the occasion of the National Republic Day that PokerBaazi CEO Navkiran Singh took to social media to announce the launch of a new live poker series – the National Poker Series (NPS). The mission of this new endeavor rings true to its slogan #AbIndiaKhelegaPoker – a live series for the masses that aims to nourish the next poker superstars of the country with affordable buy-ins and two all-expenses-paid packages to Las Vegas on offer!
India has seen a resurgence of live poker since 2019 with domestic poker brands bringing back the golden era of tournaments in Goa. While these cash-rich tournaments offer crores in prize pools and millions to the winners, the entry fee at these stops is often a major deterrent for the vast majority of the low/mid-stakes players. Here is where the NPS offers the differentiator offering tournaments starting at an affordable ₹4,000, making this new series a lot more inclusive.
The inaugural NPS takes place at the PokerBaazi LIVE poker room onboard Casino Pride 2 in Goa from April 30 – May 5 though Singh has indicated that future NPS editions could be held at different venues around the country. The week-long series will play host to five events starting with a ₹4K Kick Off event. There is also a ₹6K Deep Stack Turbo, a three-flight ₹15K Main Event and a ₹25K High Roller alongside a ₹8K bounty event on the schedule.

The intent behind the creation of the NPS is very clear and one that jumps out from the teaser video created for the announcement. Portraying all the WSOP bracelet winners from India, the idea is to provide budding poker players a platform to hone their skills while providing the consistent winners a chance to play at the biggest stage. To accomplish this, the NPS has a leaderboard that will run through the series awarding the top two finishers with all-expenses-paid packages to the WSOP. The leaderboard topper will also get the WSOP Main Event buy-in worth $10,000.
