Happy Diwali, everyone! The festival of lights is past us now, but the celebratory hangover still persists, resulting in what was a slow week of online MTT action across sites. While online poker operators were grappling with landslide overlays for the most part, what kept the Indian poker community busy was news of deep runs by Indians at the 2021 WSOP in Las Vegas.
Young Gun Gaurav Sood has been on a breakout run for the last two years and would have been a player to watch out for at the WSOP if Visa issues hadn`t forced him to abandon his Las Vegas plans. Nevertheless, the MTT beast completes an impressive 14 consecutive weeks at the top of the annual rankings with ₹3.89 Crores in annual winnings and an unbeaten ₹1.92 Crores in yearly profits. He won the Sunday Highroller this week, adding ₹3.01 Lakhs to his week’s tally. His two closest competitors, the #2 ranked Manish Lakhotia and the #3 ranked PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal Singh, did relatively better by raking about ₹5.87 Lakhs each this week.
Manish Lakhotia has closed in considerably on Sood, and with ₹3.86 Crores in annual winnings (and ₹1.11 Crores in yearly profits), a little over ₹2 Lakhs separates the duo in yearly winnings.
PokerGuru Ambassadors continue to dominate the annual leaderboards with six players from the team featuring on the top 10 rankings. Apart from Laksh Pal Singh (#3) – Ankit Wadhawan (#4), Mithun Mahesh (#5), Ashish Ahuja (#6), Arjanveer Singh Chadha (#7) and Vishal Bajaj (#10) feature prominently among the year`s top scorers.
The showstopper event of the week was undoubtedly Spartan Poker’s The Millionaire, and it’s refreshing to see new names hitting big scores. Take the latest Millionaire champion, Abhinay Devarakonda, for instance. The relatively lesser-known player trounced the competitive field in the weekend flagship and chopped the title heads-up with Kapil Arora to collect a personal-best ₹14.96 Lakhs. In all, Devarakonda lapped up ₹15.04 Lakhs through the week to top the weekly charts.
PokerGuru Ambassador Mithun Mahesh had a breakout week and won two high roller titles on PokerStars to make away with ₹12.88 Lakhs overall. He sits at #2 behind Devarakonda in the weekly standings, and his trailblazing run has pushed him up three places (since last week) to the #5 spot on the annual rankings.
Rounding out the top three on the weekly rankings is the Millionaire runner-up finisher Kapil Arora, who is hot on Mahesh’s heels with ₹12.56 Lakhs in cumulative earnings this week.
Since this is the start of the month, the weekly and monthly charts essentially reflect the same results. Hence we shall skip a separate mention of the monthly toppers.

No surprise here! Young Gun Gaurav Sood continues to dominate the annual charts, although Manish Lakhotia is within touching distance at #2. The dentist-turned poker pro added ₹3.01 Lakhs through the week, not a significant score for the online phenom, but it was festival time, and most of the player community was busy with celebrations.
Sood was the only player among the top three on the annual rankings to win a title this week. He captured Sunday’s ₹12 Lakhs GTD Sunday Highroller for ₹2.83 Lakhs. While he kept up the show as the year’s winningest player for the 14th straight week, Sood has competition closing in, with Manish Lakhotia now a little over ₹2 Lakhs behind him!
But if you look at the profit charts, Sood remains the unchallenged leader and is likely to close out 2021 as the year’s most profitable player. That’s something!

Lakhotia lapped up ₹5.87 Lakhs in cumulative earnings in the past seven days, and FT-ed four events headlined by his runner-up finish in The Endeavour for ₹2.23 Lakhs.
