March kicked off grandly with India Poker Championship’s Final Table Series (FTS) getting underway on March 2. PokerBaazi’s 1000X Series launched its third edition a day later, ensuring a mid-week explosion of massive guaranteed tournaments, churning out several breakout wins!
Just over two months into 2023, the POY race is already quite competitive. In line with last week`s prediction, Young Gun Gaurav Sood (annual winnings – ₹1.36 Crores) upstaged Arsh Grover (annual winnings – ₹1.31 Crores), claiming the top seat in the annual rankings. It is the earliest that the two-time POY has captured the lead in the yearly standings.
Ashish Munot (annual winnings – ₹1.29 Crores) climbed two ranks from last week, breaking into the top three of the yearly rankings – his first time making the POY podium – on the back of his thumping victory in Spartan Poker’s Sunday High Roller.
All credit goes to Laksh Pal Singh (weekly winnings – ₹50.70 Lakhs) for sidestepping many other pros and emerging as the week`s breakout winner. With three flagship titles to his name, including two FTS gold medallions, the IOPC 10.0 The Crown champion holds a dominating lead on the weekly charts, cashing almost twice as much as Vinayak Bajaj (weekly winnings – ₹28.98 Lakhs) and Srihari Bang (weekly winnings – ₹28.65 Lakhs) ranked immediately below him.
