This is not déjà vu! We are not back in 2020! It’s just the ‘Gaurav Sood’ effect. Yes, that’s what we will be calling it from now on. When a player is in such god damn brilliant form that it becomes unpreventable that they will be breaking records and topping leaderboards, then you have got to create a special term for them!

Last week, Young Gun Gaurav Sood trailed PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal Singh by a little over 20 Lakhs (in annual winnings). This week, the 25-year-old Sood raked in almost 23 Lakhs to overtake Singh across all three leaderboards, i.e., weekly, monthly, and yearly!

While we are all praises for Sood, as we rightly should, we have to also keep in mind – it’s not over till the fat lady sings. She has not sung yet. She hasn’t even approached the stage. We are nearing the end of April, and already 11 players have crossed the 1 Crore-mark in annual winnings.

Moreover, it’s a very tight three-way race between Gaurav Sood, Laksh Pal Singh, and Manish Lakhotia for the #1 rank on the yearly leaderboard. While Sood and Singh are almost evenly matched, with a little over 5,000 separating them on the annual standings, Lakhotia isn’t far behind. With the Sunday marquees just a day away, the rankings can just as quickly change should Singh or Lakhotia bank a big score.

The April rankings mirror the yearly leaderboard, with Laksh Pal Singh securing the #2 spot and Manish Lakhotia placed third.

The weekly leaderboard saw PokerGuru Ambassador Rony Chowdhury book the second seat for his The Millionaire runner-up finish, with Young Gun Arsh Grover rounding out the top three ranks.

Weekly Cashes – 22,90,937

Weekly Leaderboard Points – 1,715

He won Spartan Poker’s The Millionaire for a second time on Sunday, so we all knew this was coming, right? Young Gun Gaurav Sood has topped the weekly rankings. No surprises there. What is incredible, though, is Sood’s unbridled poker talent. How does he keep doing it!?

Not only did Sood become the seventh player in Indian poker history to ship The Millionaire twice, but he added two more runner-up finishes throughout the week in Adda52’s 25 Lakhs GTD Godfather (runner-up for 3.82 Lakhs) and PokerBaazi’s 12 Lakhs GTD The Weekly HighRoller (runner-up for 2.91 Lakhs), adding 22.90 Lakhs in total winnings. He also topped the week`s profit charts with 19.76 Lakhs in net profits.

His blazing Sunday night run made him the weekend`s top scorer with 15.12 Lakhs in cumulative winnings.

The Young Gun couldn`t bag another big score for the rest of the week, settling at the #2 spot on the weekly leaderboard. With 15.63 Lakhs in weekly earnings (14.53 Lakhs in net profits), Chowdhury’s lifetime winnings have crossed 3.53 Crores.

Grover was in stellar form on Monday when he took down Spartan Poker’s 35 Lakhs GTD Big Deal for 9.06 Lakhs and came close to shipping back-to-back titles in PokerBazi’s 7.5 Lakhs GTD The Big Show (runner-up for 1.21 Lakhs). He banked a cumulative 10.27 Lakhs.

He picked up yet another runner-up finish in PokerStars India’s 10 Lakhs GTD Highroller for 1.57 Lakhs on Thursday, accumulating 13.44 Lakhs (9.44 Lakhs in net profits) through the week, securing himself the #3 rank on the weekly leaderboard.

Monthly Online Rankings

1. Gaurav Sood

Monthly Cashes – 35,59,093

Monthly Profit – 26,85,912

Monthly Leaderboard Points – 4,164

After topping the weekly charts, it was inevitable that Gaurav Sood would also feature as the top-ranked player on the April leaderboard.

Despite placing third on the yearly leaderboard last week, Sood was ranked 13th on the monthly charts. His The Millionaire win and two other runner-up finishes helped him jump 12 places to reach the top. (Maybe he should consider representing India in the High Jump category in the next Olympics!)

Gaurav Sood has 35.59 Lakhs in monthly winnings, and just like the weekly profits chart, he also topped the monthly profits listings with 35.59 Lakhs in net profits.

Yearly Online Rankings

1. Gaurav Sood

Yearly Cashes – 1,45,95,042

Yearly Profit – 71,24,120

Yearly Leaderboard Points – 23,127

It finally happened! We have been predicting this for weeks now! Young Gun Gaurav Sood has captured the ‘numero uno’ spot on the annual leaderboard!

The dentist-turned-poker pro had taken over #1 rank for a day on April 2 but lost it back to Laksh Pal Singh on April 3. This is the first time in 2021 that Sood has claimed the top seat on the annual leaderboard at the end of the week.

Sood’s phenomenal Sunday run saw him not only clinch his career-second Millionaire title but also witnessed him cross the 8 Crores-mark in online cashes, earning him his record-fourth ‘Super Achiever’ badge. He now has 8.14 Crores in tracked online earnings, of which 1.45 Crores he has earned in 2021 (71.24 Lakhs in net profits).

2. Laksh Pal Singh

Yearly Cashes – 1,45,89,966

Yearly Profit – 82,87,914

Yearly Leaderboard Points – 13,564

For a total of seven weeks, PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal Singh had dominated the weekly rankings. The IOPC Crown win on February 1 and The Millionaire win on April 11 had helped him thwart Gaurav Sood’s advances, but we knew this day could come.

Laksh Pal Singh could only muster 2.67 Lakhs in winnings this week, expectedly dropping down to #2 on the yearly leaderboard standings. Nonetheless, he is still headlining the yearly profits rankings with 82.87 Lakhs in net profits.

The PokerGuru Staking player`s yearly winnings now stand at 1.45 Crores and has a little over 5,000 separating him from Gaurav Sood at #1. This is the closest margin between the top two places on the annual leaderboard reported by us in our “Online Rankings” report to date.

3. Manish Lakhotia

Yearly Cashes – 1,43,65,798

Yearly Leaderboard Points – 29,246

The two-time Millionaire champion Manish Lakhotia falls down to #3 this week on the yearly leaderboard.

He had multiple ITM finishes throughout the week and a few deep runs as well, but in the end, it wasn’t enough to match up to Gaurav Sood‘s The Millionaire victory.

Lakhotia presently has 1.43 Crores in yearly earnings (38.49 Lakhs in net profits) and needs almost 2.30 Lakhs to catch up to Gaurav Sood and Laksh Pal Singh at the top of the annual leaderboard.
