Online Rankings: Gaurav Sood’s WPT Super High Roller Victory Propels Him to the Top of the Weekly, Monthly & Annual Charts!

Gaurav Sood – naam toh suna hoga?! Well, this past week was all about the 25-year-old poker phenom who has cemented his place as the winningest MTT player in the country!

The dentist turned poker pro was the undisputed leaderboard topper last year and topped the charts for a record 34 weeks. And he has found his way back to the top of the 2021 leaderboard rankings, ending Manish Lakhotia`s eight-week reign as the #1 ranked player of the year.

Sood scripted a sizzling Thursday night run with two title victories worth a career-best ₹36.61 Lakhs. He trounced an 88-strong field in the WPT India Super Highroller, winning a personal-best ₹32.60 Lakhs. Sood also won the Trending Thursday on Spartan Poker for ₹3.85 Lakhs. His winnings boosted his annual winnings to ₹3.13 Crore, making him the first player to cross ₹3 Crores in yearly winnings. Sood’s resounding Thursday grind has also improved his profits tally to ₹1.58 Crores, helping him overtake PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal Singh at the top of the annual profit charts.

Gaurav Sood`s list of accomplishments is extensive, and he crossed several other milestones. It`s no surprise then that he makes a clean sweep by topping the yearly, monthly, and weekly leaderboards.

Sood has added ₹62.44 Lakhs to his tally these past two weeks, effortlessly climbing to the top of the August leaderboard standings as well. The IOPC – The Crown champion Vaibhav Temani and WPT Super Highroller third-place finisher Anant Purohit round out the top three places on the August charts.

With ₹39.02 Lakhs in recorded winnings this week, Gaurav Sood headlines the weekly charts, with Anant Purohit and Young Gun Arsh Grover capping out the top three places on the weekly charts.

Gaurav Sood has been an almost permanent fixture on the annual rankings, but his explosive Thursday run pushed him to the top of the monthly and weekly standings as well. He lapped up a whopping ₹39.02 Lakhs through the week, ₹32.60 Lakhs of that coming from his victory run in the ₹1 Crore GTD WPT India Super Highroller on Thursday. The same night, he chopped the Trending Thursday title heads-up with Chirag Sodha for ₹3.85 Lakhs.

Anant Purohit was the other head turner this week. The MTT pro was recently blessed with an addition to the family – one of the primary reasons he seems to have put poker on the back burner for some time. He certainly hasn’t lost his winning touch, and last Sunday, Purohit took down the WPT India Bounty Championship for ₹7.35 Lakhs (including bounties). Like Sood, he had an intense Thursday grind and finished third in the WPT India Super Highroller while shipping PokerBaazi`s The Summit for the second time.

Purohit closed out the week with ₹32.02 Lakhs in total winnings and a hefty ₹25.58 Lakhs in profits. What a comeback!

Young Gun Arsh Grover went neck-to-neck with Gaurav Sood last year for the top position on the annual leaderboard, and he rounds out the top three places on the weekly charts this time.

Grover took down Spartan Poker`s The Millionaire on Sunday for a collective ₹17.78 Lakhs. With the feat, he became the sixth player to have won The Millionaire title twice. While Grover’s The Millionaire score forms a substantial portion of the ₹24.63 Lakhs he collected this week, he also ran deep in the WPT India Super Highroller, where he, unfortunately, departed on the final table bubble in seventh place.

He started out strong and took down the ₹50 Lakhs GTD APT #22 Championship Event on August 4, collecting ₹12.06 Lakhs alongside his first APT Championship Ring and the APT Trophy. His legendary Thursday night run fetched Sood the WPT India Super High Roller and the Trending Thursday titles!

Gaurav Sood`s WPT Super High Roller victory might have pushed Vaibhav Temani to the #2 spot on the monthly charts, but he still commands a strong position, with ₹58.14 Lakhs in monthly winnings. Temani also tops the monthly profits charts with ₹56.08 Lakhs in net profits.

He bagged his first title victory of the month in the WPT India Bounty Championship on August 8 for ₹7.35 Lakhs (includes bounties). Purohit also won The Summit on Thursday, the same day he placed third in the Adda52 WPT Super High Roller for ₹12.98 Lakhs.

Young Gun Gaurav Sood has become an icon for upcoming poker players, and his consistency is simply phenomenal. This week, he charged his way to the top of the charts with ₹39.02 Lakhs in cumulative winnings, primarily on the back of his winning runs in the WPT India Super Highroller and the Trending Thursday on Thursday.

Sood currently boasts of ₹3.13 Crore in annual winnings and is the only player to breach the ₹3 Crore milestone in tracked winnings this year. On the annual leaderboard, Sood has created a considerable distance of approximately ₹17 Lakhs between himself and Manish Lakhotia. And if that was not enough, he has also dethroned Young Gun Laksh Pal Singh as the most profitable player of the year with ₹1.58 Crores in yearly profits!

His headline performance was his runner-up finish in The Big Show for ₹1.17 Lakhs on August 9.

With ₹2.76 Crores in annual winnings, Laksh Pal Singh ranks #3 in the annual charts and sits behind Gaurav Sood at #2 in yearly profits.
