January may be over, but it left behind a trail of epic battles, jaw-dropping wins, and leaderboard shake-ups. Whether it’s the usual suspects or new challengers making their mark, the race is already heating up for 2025.
Rajat Sharma has been leading the charge for weeks now, and he closed out January by topping the leaderboard with a whopping ₹55.41 Lakhs in total earnings. While Sharma remained mostly dominant this past week, the real fireworks came from the 2024 POY #2 Anant Purohit, who stormed to the top of the weekly charts, signalling his intention to make another run for the POY crown!
February is already shaping up to be a monster month, with PokerBaazi’s colossal ₹100 Crores GTD NPS India 2025 just weeks away. Pocket52 has also upped the ante by promising over 5.50 Crores in guaranteed prizes across its tournaments this month. And there’s still plenty of action to go around, with other platforms like Natural8 India, Adda52, and Junglee Poker also bringing the heat!
And while Natural8 India crushers ‘borntrouble‘ (₹1.14 Crores) and ‘dontraiseplz‘ (₹90.79 Lakhs) have been the biggest money churners of 2025 (while keeping their identities under wraps), the competition is heating up!
With January setting the bar high, the question is—can anyone outdo what’s already been achieved?
Rajat Sharma: The January Juggernaut
The month started with Rajat Sharma firing on all cylinders. After kicking off 2025 by winning PokerBaazi’s WTF on New Year’s Day, he never looked back. His biggest hit came in Natural8 India’s Friday Fisticuffs 150 just ten days into the year, landing him a career-best ₹22.58 Lakhs. He followed it up with another dominant run in the APL 2025 Tip-Off, where he snagged another ₹21.81 Lakhs.
While the last two weeks were quieter by his standards—adding a “measly” ₹2.95 Lakhs—his total January earnings of ₹55.41 Lakhs (monthly profits – ₹47.10 Lakhs) were more than enough to keep him perched on top. The only names ahead of him in total winnings are the anonymous Natural8 India crushers ‘borntrouble‘ and ‘dontraiseplz.’ But for January, Sharma reigns supreme as the leaderboard champion!
Neeraj Sattawat: January’s Runner-Up, With Eyes on the Prize
Neeraj Sattawat is picking up right where he left things off in 2024. This #11 finisher in last year’s POY race wasn’t about to let January slip by without making a statement. He locked in second place on the January leaderboard with a striking ₹39.65 Lakhs in total winnings to his credit (monthly profits – ₹26.06 Lakhs).
HIs most impressive feat was an eighth-place finish in Natural8 India’s Bounty Hunters HR Main Event 525 for ₹19.36 Lakhs. Toss in a ₹5.06 Lakhs victory in PokerBaazi’s Blockbuster, and you’ve got a month that most players can only dream of.
While last week saw him rake in another ₹5.01 Lakhs, most of that coming from his victory march in PokerBaazi’s Daily Last Chance and a podium finish in Adda52’s Godfather, his consistent performances suggest he’s far from done.
Anant Purohit’s Weekly Rampage – King of the Hill!
January was already shaping up nicely for Anant Purohit, but the 2024 POY runner-up decided to kick it into overdrive. After grinding his way through the month, he unleashed fury this past week, racking up ₹14.90 Lakhs in total earnings (weekly profits – ₹10.43 Lakhs). This catapulted him to the #1 spot on the weekly charts and a cool #3 for the month with ₹39.23 Lakhs in winnings (monthly profits – ₹31.38 Lakhs).
His highlight reel included a ₹8.20 Lakhs score from a 42nd place in Natural8 India’s Lunar Mystery Bounty and a strong fourth-place finish in the APL Series: Zodiac Goat High Roller for ₹5.07 Lakhs. Is Purohit setting the stage for another POY takeover?
The January Leaderboard is Overflowing with Talent!
The January leaderboard is packed with heavy hitters, and the battle for the POY title is going to be epic! Narayan Ramaswamy (monthly winnings – ₹34 Lakhs), 2024 POY #20 Vinay B (monthly winnings – ₹31.33 Lakhs), and Ashish Munot (monthly winnings – ₹30.41 Lakhs), are all among the early standouts. This is just the first act, and the drama will only intensify!
Rishabh Gupta: The Quiet Assassin
Sometimes, it’s all about quality over quantity. Rishabh Gupta didn’t flood the tables, but he made it count when he played. With ₹13.44 Lakhs in weekly winnings (weekly profits – ₹10.75 Lakhs), he quietly climbed to #2 in the weekly rankings.
He went supernova on Sunday, when he nearly closed out Natural8 India’s The Weekender 50, finishing fourth for ₹13.28 Lakhs—his biggest score of the year so far. Gupta is proving that you don’t need to be everywhere to be a major contender.
Yash Chitre: From Mid-Stakes Master to High-Roller Hero
Yash Chitre is synonymous with mid-stakes domination, but he set his sights on the bigger game this week. He kicked things off with a podium finish in Pocket52’s Pocket Kings, followed by a close second in PokerBaazi’s The Big Show. By midweek, he was unstoppable, conquering Adda52’s Maverick and almost taking down Pocket52’s Pocket Rockets. And to top it all off, he took down PokerBaazi’s WTF.
Across his rampage, Chitre racked up ₹12.75 Lakhs in winnings (weekly profits – ₹10.20 Lakhs), landing him in third place on the weekly leaderboard. This is a player who’s not just playing at the top—he’s ready to take over.
A Week of Poker Prowess
The weekly leaderboard was filled with exceptional performances, including those by Armaan Kochhar (weekly winnings – ₹8.33 Lakhs), 2024 POY #18 Sagar Raj (weekly winnings – ₹10.16 Lakhs), NaveenKumar S (weekly winnings – ₹9.99 Lakhs), Mohsin Shaikh (weekly winnings – ₹8.40 Lakhs), Ashumi Parekh (weekly winnings – ₹8.15 Lakhs), 2024 POY#5 Advait Rajguru (weekly winnings – ₹8.15 Lakhs), and Tarush Gupta (weekly winnings – ₹7.73 Lakhs).
The 2025 poker season is just getting warmed up, and if this week is any indication, it’s going to be another unforgettable year.
