May has kicked off with an undeniable explosion of poker action, and things are already hitting a record pace! PokerBaazi is right at the front and centre of that firestorm with its iconic ₹1 Crore GTD The MoneyMaker, now a daily fixture this month. For 31 straight days, championship bracelets and seven-figure scores are up for grabs every night. Unsurprisingly, the leaderboards are already starting to feel the tremors.

But PokerBaazi isn’t the only platform cranking up the heat. Natural8 India is running at full steam with the World Festival 2025, billed as India’s biggest-ever tournament series and holding the potential for more leaderboard-disrupting monster payouts. Adda52’s revamped flagship offerings, and Junglee Poker’s massive ₹7.50 Crores GTD Poker Premier League (PPL), the final act of its grand ₹50 Crores GTD festival, are all combining for a full-blown summer grindfest across every major platform.

With massive prize pools and high-stakes tournaments unfolding daily, another Super Sunday is already underway, promising plenty of leaderboard turbulence. Still, at the peak of the 2025 Player of the Year (POY) mountain, the elite trio at the top refuses to budge, even though there have been notable shuffles further down the order. And with such explosive action all around, more upheavals can certainly be expected.

Tarun Goyal’s Reign Continues: 14 Weeks at the POY Helm!

Tarun Goyal just won’t let go. His ironclad hold on the 2025 Player of the Year (POY) leaderboard now stretches into its 14th consecutive week, continuing a run of form that has already entered legendary territory. The only other player to show such sustained command was Young Gun Gaurav Sood, the three-time POY himself!

Tarun Goyal

Goyal’s 2024 campaign was already the stuff of Indian poker folklore—a staggering ₹12.39 Crores in tracked winnings and nearly ₹10 Crores in profit. This record-shattering achievement can safely be called the greatest single-year performance ever by an Indian player. He has carried that white-hot momentum into 2025 with ruthless efficiency, highlighted by an explosive 2.74 Crores heater in February. That early surge gave him a commanding head start in his bid for a repeat POY title, a lead he has been clinging to tenaciously ever since.

After a relatively brief quiet spell, Goyal stormed back onto the scene in the second half of April, posting a fifth-place finish in Natural8 India’s Bounty Hunters HR 525 that added ₹22.81 Lakhs to his coffers. This helped him end the month ranked #4 on the monthly leaderboard, with ₹26.95 Lakhs in April winnings.

This past week, he logged just one score—a ₹2.46 Lakhs cash in the Sunday Showdown 250. Despite the slower week by his lofty standards, Goyal’s 2025 scorecard is astounding: ₹4.74 Crores in winnings and ₹2.64 Crores in profits. He still holds a near 14% lead over his closest challenger, but with his once-daunting advantage steadily shrinking, this race is a long way from being settled.

Anant Purohit Piles on the Pressure in POY Chase

The 2025 POY race has a very serious challenger in Anant Purohit, who continues to breathe right down Tarun Goyal‘s neck. After finishing as the runner-up in last year’s POY standings, Purohit hasn`t let up one bit, and he’s doing what he does best: consistently stacking up deep scores, week after week, especially over on Natural8 India.

Anant Purohit
Anant Purohit

His biggest turning point this year arrived in late March with that monstrous ₹1.92 Crores win in the PLOSSUS Bounty 400. That victory wasn’t just the highlight of his career to date—it made him March’s top earner and dramatically closed the gap on Goyal in the annual rankings.

But Purohit didn’t hit the brakes there. April saw him double down on his efforts, particularly during the Omaholic series. He posted back-to-back runner-up finishes in the Omaholic Bounty Hunters HR 525 (₹12.98 Lakhs) and the Omaholic Sunday Bounty Big Game 215 (₹6.55 Lakhs). That relentless run of scores helped him top the April leaderboard with ₹34.97 Lakhs in winnings and a superb ₹21.43 Lakhs in profits!

After dominating the monthly charts back-to-back, Purohit has charged out of the gates in May. On Monday, he placed fourth in The European Classic 320, raking in a scorching ₹16.58 Lakhs. He ended the week fourth in total winnings with ₹17.14 Lakhs collected and ₹14.02 Lakhs in profits. Currently, he sits fifth in the May monthly standings, already boasting ₹18.12 Lakhs in winnings and ₹11.68 Lakhs in profits in the new month.

That leaves him with an astounding ₹4.14 Crores in annual winnings and ₹1.28 Crores in profits for the year. The message is loud and clear: the POY race is very much on. Purohit is surging, and Goyal still leads, but if recent history is any indication, we’re heading towards another gripping contest between India’s two most consistent poker beasts. The POY belt is far from decided.

Ankit Bajaj Stands Resolute: Holding the POY #3 Spot!

Ankit Bajaj maintains his #3 position on the POY leaderboard, staying just behind the frontrunners Tarun Goyal and Anant Purohit. While the gap to the top two remains considerable, Bajaj’s consistency throughout the year has kept him firmly in the top-tier mix.

Ankit Bajaj

His breakout moment this year came on March 2, when he bagged a jaw-dropping 1 Crore mystery bounty on Natural8 India, a game-changing score that placed him among an elite club of just six Indian players to have recorded an eight-figure tournament payday. That windfall launched him directly into the POY spotlight, and he has been holding on tight to a podium spot ever since.

Since that life-changing score, Bajaj has quietly built on his foundation with a steady stream of results. Although the last few weeks have been quieter for him, his 2025 tally remains solid, with ₹1.46 Crores in total winnings and ₹91.02 Lakhs in profits.

However, with players like Rajneesh Thakur and Advait Rajguru rapidly gaining ground, Bajaj will likely need another big finish soon to protect his #3 rank as the POY race continues to tighten.

POY Mid-Pack Moves: The Chase for the Top Tier Intensifies!

While the top three positions in the 2025 POY standings have remained unchanged for weeks, the contest beneath them is becoming increasingly competitive. With Ankit Bajaj yet to post any major scores recently, his grip on the #3 spot is under pressure, and the pack of players behind him is closing in fast.

Rajneesh Thakur, a true volume machine and an ever-present name on the tournament leaderboard (TLB) charts, has climbed back into the #4 position. His tireless grind continues to yield rewards, pushing his 2025 earnings to ₹1.39 Crores with ₹54.40 Lakhs in profits, keeping him within striking range of making the coveted podium.

Just behind him, Advait Rajguru slides back slightly to #5 after a brief ascent last week. The PokerGuru Staking coach and a 2024 POY top-five finisher remains a consistently strong presence on the circuit, holding firm with ₹1.37 Crores in winnings and an excellent ₹80.01 Lakhs in profits for the year.

Making the biggest move of the week is Young Gun Sanat Mehrotra, who leaps from #9 to #6 in the annual standings. Following a standout April and an insane start to May, Mehrotra now sits with ₹1.30 Crores in winnings and a striking ₹92.79 Lakhs in profits—putting him right in the thick of the POY race and firmly among the top contenders to watch as the summer poker action heats up.

Sanat Mehrotra’s May Mayhem: Dominating Weekly & Monthly Charts

Young Gun Sanat Mehrotra, who closed out April as the #2 ranked player on both the monthly and weekly charts (for the last week of April), has kicked off May in blistering form. His phenomenal current streak has also given him a massive boost in the overall leaderboard race.

Sanat Mehrotra

Mehrotra has been going deep in some of the biggest tournaments around with uncanny consistency! After finishing as the runner-up in PokerBaazi`s The Summit last Thursday, Mehrotra kept that positive momentum rolling. By Tuesday, he was back on the podium with a third-place finish in The MoneyMaker 96.0, a performance that added ₹7 Lakhs to his name. He followed that up on Thursday with another strong third-place run, this time in Adda52’s Thursday Thunder. But the undeniable highlight of his week came on Friday, when he shipped PokerBaazi’s The MoneyMaker 99.0, earning a massive ₹15 Lakhs and becoming just the sixth player ever to claim two The MoneyMaker bracelets.

That phenomenal string of results launched him straight to the top of both the weekly and monthly standings. Mehrotra banked an incredible ₹25.51 Lakhs in weekly winnings with ₹23.33 Lakhs in profits, pushing his May tally already to a lofty ₹31.17 Lakhs in winnings and ₹27.69 Lakhs in profits.

His outstanding recent play has also powered him up the 2025 POY leaderboard, where he now sits at #6, boasting ₹1.30 Crores in total winnings and ₹92.79 Lakhs in profits for the year.

Vishal Ojha on Fire: Pune Pro Storms to #2 in May Standings!

Vishal Ojha, a name already etched in Indian poker history as the country’s only USOP Main Event champion, is blazing through May with a string of high-impact performances that have vaulted him to #2 on the monthly leaderboard. The Pune-based pro has already pulled in ₹30 Lakhs in winnings and an excellent ₹25.31 Lakhs in profits this month, riding a dominant wave of results across top-tier tournaments.

His current heater caught fire last Friday night, when he raked in a staggering ₹18.66 Lakhs in a single session. The crown jewel of that incredible run was his victory in #2 The MoneyMaker on PokerBaazi, where his bank account got a ₹15 Lakhs infusion—his biggest score of 2025 so far and the second-largest online cash of his entire career. He also placed as the runner-up in The Quest on the same night, which added another ₹3 Lakhs to his tally.

Ojha’s momentum carried straight into Sunday, where he took down the BSS SuperStack for ₹6.95 Lakhs, and continued on Monday, with a sixth-place finish in The Big Show good for ₹1.12 Lakhs.

Gopal Bajaj: Upcoming Star Shines at #3 For May

Gopal Bajaj, undeniably one of the brightest young talents on the rise in Indian poker, is currently ranked #3 on the May leaderboard. He’s already accumulated ₹23.03 Lakhs in winnings and ₹14 Lakhs in profits this month.

The Maharashtra-based pro, who narrowly missed out on topping the NPS state leaderboard—just falling short of Zarvan Tumboli‘s last-day clutch Bronze Medal finish in NPS#190 Golden Rush—has shown no signs of slowing down his pace.

Bajaj has been firing on all cylinders this month. He’s already notched up seven final table finishes in May, most notably finishing as the runner-up in #3 The MoneyMaker, where he bagged a very solid ₹10 Lakhs. With such consistency and firepower on display, Bajaj isn’t just chasing the monthly crown—he’s staking his claim as a serious contender for the rest of the year.

Rounding Out May’s Early Frontrunners

Just behind this leading trio, Mohit Bohra, India’s first National Poker Champion, continues to turn heads. His May winnings are already at ₹21.37 Lakhs, with ₹11.68 Lakhs in profits, keeping him firmly in the monthly spotlight in the #4 position.

POY contender Anant Purohit, never far from the top of any leaderboard, is currently ranked #5 for May. He has also made his presence known loud and clear with ₹18.12 Lakhs in monthly winnings and a matching ₹11.68 Lakhs in profits, adding another highly consistent month to his already explosive 2025 campaign.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Gupta has quietly pieced together a very strong showing and is ranked #6 for May. He’s racked up ₹17.5 Lakhs in winnings and a noteworthy ₹13.19 Lakhs in profits, rounding out the current list of May’s top-performing players.

Mohit Bohra’s Power Week: National Champ Grabs Weekly #2 Spot!

Mohit Bohra, India’s first National Poker Champion, is keeping his momentum red-hot. The Gujarat-based pro delivered yet another statement-making week, clinching the #2 spot on the weekly leaderboard with ₹20.94 Lakhs in winnings and an excellent ₹18.73 Lakhs in profits.

It all came together for Bohra last Sunday, when he captured PokerBaazi’s The MoneyMaker 94.0 for a massive ₹15 Lakhs—his biggest cash ever on the platform and his second-largest score overall. He nearly made it a dream double on the day, also finishing as the runner-up in Adda52’s Mystery Bounty for another ₹3.96 Lakhs. With two more deep runs added into that mix, his Sunday earnings soared past ₹19.11 Lakhs.

The heater didn’t stop there either. On Wednesday, he shipped his second title of the week, taking down Junglee Poker’s PPL Wednesday Superstack, a victory that added ₹1.46 Lakhs to his account.

These powerful performances have also pushed Bohra to #4 on the May monthly leaderboard, with ₹21.37 Lakhs in winnings and ₹11.68 Lakhs in profits, proving that winning the National Poker Champion title was just the beginning of a new chapter for him.

Rishabh Gupta’s Grand Week: Clinching #3 on the Weekly Charts!

Rishabh Gupta also put together an excellent run this past week to earn himself the #3 spot on the weekly leaderboard, notching up ₹17.31 Lakhs in winnings and a tidy ₹13.59 Lakhs in profits.

The highlight of his week came Tuesday, when he finished seventh in Natural8 India’s Bounty Hunters Daily Main 55, a score worth a neat ₹6.76 Lakhs. A day earlier, on Monday, Gupta had already clinched a big win by taking down PokerBaazi’s The Big Show, a performance that added another ₹5 Lakhs to his weekly total.

Weekly Shoutouts: Anant Purohit, Rahul Purohit & Omkar Nath Also Make Big Moves!

Anant Purohit wasn’t far behind, finishing #4 on the weekly leaderboard. His efforts added ₹17.14 Lakhs to his winnings and ₹14.02 Lakhs to his profits, reinforcing his reputation as one of the circuit’s most consistently high-performing players.

Rahul Purohit (who bagged a second championship bracelet in The MoneyMaker 96.0) earned the #5 spot on the weekly charts, putting up ₹16.85 Lakhs in winnings with an excellent ₹15.41 Lakhs in profits, in what stands out as one of his most profitable weeks of the entire year so far.
