Young Gun Gaurav Sood, the undisputed leaderboard topper of 2020, looks determined to defend the title a second time. After a prolonged three-way tussle, the 25-year-old poker prodigy finally gained an advantage and has held on to it for six straight weeks. However, even if he were to carry it all the way until the year-end, he won’t be able to outdo his 34-week streak from last year. The highlight of his weekly run was the heads-up chop in PokerBaazi`s The Summit. Since our last weekly update, Sood has added ₹6.85 Lakhs to his online scorecard and stands firm as the #1 ranked player of the year.
PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal Singh** has regained the #2 position in the annual rankings, pushing the Siliguri-based Manish Lakhotia** to #3. Singh was, in fact, the most prominent performer of the trio – and raked in an impressive ₹11.56 Lakhs through online MTT`s this week. At the same time, he continues to remain the #2 ranked player in annual profits.
September has seen a lot of MTT activity, with top sites dishing out flagship events like the FTS 3.0, INCOOP, IMPS Gold Edition. Our most recent “PokerGuru Star of the Week,” Haider Madraswala, sits proudly on the top of the monthly leaderboard rankings. The poker player from Chennai sits on a grand total of ₹27.24 Lakhs on his September scorecard and a leaderboard-topping ₹23.51 Lakhs in profits!
The August sensation Vaibhav Sharma and the month’s first The Millionaire champion Abhishek Jain are ranked #2 & #3 in September.
With so much happening across sites, this was a massive week for online poker, and resultantly numerous big winners emerged. However, no one won as much as Vaibhav Sharma. The Delhi-based MTT pro netted ₹15.07 Lakhs this week, moving significantly higher on the September rankings as well. Abhijeet Kumar and PokerGuru Ambassador Kartik Ved round out the top three places in the weekly leaderboard standings.

Young Gun Gaurav Sood is unflinching from his #1 position on the annual leaderboard standings, where he completes six consecutive weeks today. And if he taught us something last year, it was that once he`s grasped the lead, it’s virtually impossible to displace him unless someone close to him were to bag a disproportionate score in a tournament like the EndBoss.
Sood rallied up ₹6.85 Lakhs in total winnings this week, and his only run worth talking about is from PokerBaazi`s The Summit. He had finished runner-up in the Thursday flagship the week prior and placed one better this week to collect ₹3.54 Lakhs. He struck a heads-up deal in The Summit with another Young Gun, the bracelet-winning Abhinav Iyer.
