2023 PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC)
In April, PokerStars made the much-awaited announcement of the return of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) and the PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC). The PCA and PSPC will be held at a new venue, Baha Mar resort in Nassau, the Bahamas, in January of 2023.
The Atlantis Casino and Resort in the Bahamas was the home for the PCA from 2005 through 2019. In September 2019, PokerStars announced that PCA was being discontinued. However, the popular series will return to the nearby Baha Mar next year, from January 22 to February 3, 2023, after a three-year hiatus.
The only running of the PSPC was alongside the 2019 PCA. The $25,000 buy-in tournament set the record as the largest tournament ever at that price point, registering a massive field of 1,039 entries. From India, eight Platinum Pass winners, along with former PokerStars India ambassador Aditya Agarwal played the inaugural PSPC.
The final prize pool touched $26.4 Million, $9 Million of which came in the form of free seats awarded to players by PokerStars in the lead-up to the event in the form of ‘PSPC Platinum Passes.’
The PSPC was to host its second edition in 2020, but because of the global pandemic, PokerStars, in May 2020, confirmed that the PSPC and EPT Barcelona would not be taking place as planned in August. While both events were initially postponed to 2021, with the second wave hitting most countries last year, they again got delayed.
