10-time WSOP bracelet winner and arguably one of the best poker players in the world, Phil Ivey (cover image) is back at doing what he does best, winning tournaments. Ivey, who has in the last few years been grabbing the headlines for his legal troubles over the infamous edge-sorting incident, claimed his 32nd career live title after taking down the Event #7: $50,000 Short Deck title at the ongoing partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Super High Roller Series in Sochi!
This could have very easily been the second title that Ivey won at the series had it not been for a brutal beat that denied him the title in Event #5: $50,000 Short Deck. He ended up finishing runner up in that event for $525,000, but this time, there was no stopping Ivey who got the outright victory along with $856,050 in prize money after defeating Michael Soyza (2nd for $561,780) heads-up to the finish line.
The event logged in 55 entries, and the line up featured some of the most reputed poker names on the planet.
The top eight places shared the $2.75 Million prize pool with a min-cash worth $107,000.
Incidentally, it was Michael Soyza who got everyone in the money after eliminating Stephen Chidwick on the money bubble. Soyza moved all-in with and Chidwick called at risk with . The board ran busting Chidwick in ninth place.
Two more eliminations signaled the start of the unofficial seven-handed final table with Thai Ha biting the dust in eighth place.

Dmitriy Kuzmin was the first one to depart after he jammed with , and the chip leader Michael Soyza woke up with aces to take down the pot.
Kuzmin’s departure brought an end to Day 1 of the tournament, with the six finalists bagging their stacks for an overnight break.
Returning the next day, Sam Greenwood was the first one to fall after he jammed with , and Soyza looked him up with pocket jacks. Soyza flopped a set, ensuring Greenwood’s elimination.
A few hands later, Phil Ivey got it in with . Sergi Reixach, who was next to act, got dealt and made the call. Ivey got lucky and ended up hitting a full boat on the board , eliminating Reixach in fifth place.
Next up, Seth Davies was sent packing by Soyza in fourth place. Davies’ lost out to Soyza’s on the rundown .
The three-way quarrel between Ivey, Soyza, and Wai Kiat Lee went on for some time, and in that period, Ivey successfully took hold of the chip lead.
Wai Kiat Lee eventually bowed out in third place when Soyza’s pocket queens came out on top of his on the runout .
During the heads-up play, Ivey accumulated enough chips to take over a 2:1 chip lead and eventually finished things off in style.
On the final hand, Ivey pushed it in with , and Soyza called off with . Soyza hit top pair on the flop to take the lead. He even dodged the turn , but the river gave Ivey the nut flush and the title!
