Peter Vitantonio Wins WSOP Circuit Palm Beach Kennel Club Main Event for $129,685

Ohio player Peter Vitantonio (cover image) won the 2015/2016 World Series of Poker Circuit Palm Beach Kennel Club Main Event for $129,685. Vitantonio claimed his first gold ring with this win and also got a seat to the season-ending WSOP Global Casino Championship.

After the win, Vitantonio said that, “I came in second [overall], but kind of just sat there for the first hour and didn’t do much. Then I got aces and doubled. Two hands later I got kings and doubled up and that was pretty much it.”

The event drew 393 entries, creating a prize pool of $589,500. Javier Zarco was the runner-up and in a record of sorts, this was his fourth time, when he missed the title, finishing in 2^nd place.

The final day of play saw Javier Zarco as the chip leader, with Vitantonio second in chip counts. The nine-handed final table had Steve Duncker (9^th) Ralph Massey (8^th) John Palace (7^th) Ellen Lambath (6^th) Andrew Kelsall (5^th) Michael Kelleher (4^th) and Robert Lebeau (3^rd).

Heads up play came down to Zarco and Vitantonio. The final hand saw Zarco raise to 90,000. Vitantonio called, and the flop came . Vitantonio then checked, and Zarco bet 80,000. Vitantonio check-raised to 205,000. Zarco called and bet 275,000 on the turn. The river with completed the board and Vitantonio moved all in. Zarco paused and went all-in for 1.1 million.

Vitantonio tabled for two pair, which overcame the held by Zarco.

Zarco settle for 2^nd place with $80,143 for comfort.
