The Coronavirus pandemic has quickly escalated into a global crisis of unprecedented proportions. The threat has forced the majority of the world population into lockdown, at least for the foreseeable future. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) Situation reports, there are presently over 730,000 confirmed cases worldwide, and the death toll has already crossed 35,000.
The situation demands that all live operations are shut from the public, and this includes casinos and poker rooms. Online poker platforms have snatched this opportunity to launch massive tournaments and promotions. At the same time, content creators have gone on overdrive trying to churn out content for digital platforms – the need of the hour for billions stuck inside their homes with little to do.
Poker Central is one brand that has been successful in accomplishing both. Precisely a week after it announced the launch of the first-ever Poker Masters Online on partypoker, it premiered two new shows on the PokerGO app. The first show, Run It Back with Remko, premiered on March 26 and the other, The Championship Run, debuted on March 27.

Elaborating on the same, the President of Poker Central, Sam Simmons, said, “Poker players and fans are hungrier for content than ever before, especially in a time when we are all seeking entertainment from the safety of our homes. These two series celebrate some of the most compelling moments in the game’s history coupled with present-day poker insight and analysis. Our go is to bring the spirit of the game to our viewers at home.”
Run It Back with Remko will be streamed every Thursday and hosted by popular poker reporter/commentator Remko Rinkema. The series looks back on some classic poker footage from poker shows like High Stakes Poker and Poker After Dark with Remko Rinkema and a prominent poker player (guest), providing commentary. The premiere of the show featured six-time WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu, who, along with Remko, provided fresh voices on the tenth episode of Season 1 of High Stakes Poker.

The Championship Run is to run every Wednesday and Friday with PokerGO host Jeff Platt fronting the show. The show will feature highlights of iconic poker victories throughout the years. In the first episode, Platt visited a classic moment in poker history, Chris Moneymaker’s famous World Series of Poker Main Event run in 2003, which led to a victory and is often referred to as the ‘poker boom’ or the ‘Moneymaker Effect.’
