Nishant Sharma (cover image), the poker prodigy from Mumbai, is building a Poker Dream dynasty! He’s just pulled off another incredible feat, winning his fourth Poker Dream title and second at the current Poker Dream 13 Malaysia series. This time, he conquered Event #16: MYR 3,000 Mystery Bounty, battling through a formidable field of 395 entries to claim the top prize of MYR 250,500 (~₹49.13 Lakhs), including MYR 35,500 (~₹6.70 Lakhs) in bounties. This isn’t just another win; it’s the biggest score by any Indian player in this series so far!
This victory is just the tip of the iceberg in Team India’s absolute domination of the South Asian poker scene. Fresh off their incredible showing at APT Phu Quoc 2024, a select group of Indian players stormed into Genting Highlands like a force of nature. In the first five days alone, they racked up an astounding 22 cash finishes, including two final tables and now two remarkable wins. Sharma, undoubtedly, has been at the forefront of this Indian poker resurgence.
His winning streak began in Event #14: MYR 2,000 Pot Limit Omaha. Not only did he win, but he snagged his first-ever live PLO title and MYR 23,200 (~₹4.35 Lakhs) in the process. Just two days later, he conquered the massive field in the MYR 1 Billion GTD Mystery Bounty, claiming the lion’s share of the MYR 1.184 Billion prize pool. Peng Chan finished runner-up for MYR 137,406.
However, Sharma’s achievements at Poker Dream 13 Malaysia extend beyond these two victories. He also flexed his skills in Event #21: MYR 12,000 Single Day High Roller, finishing sixth and adding MYR 79,000 (~₹14.94 Lakhs) to his winnings. He added another cash to his tally with a deep run in Event #1: MYR 1,000 Malaysia Open (103rd for ₹66,000). With half the series still to go, he’s already sitting on a staggering MYR 356,200 (~₹67.10 Lakhs) in total winnings!
Sharma’s Poker Dream dominance is truly legendary. This latest win marks his seventh live title, and get this – his last four victories have all been at Poker Dream events! It all started in May at Poker Dream 10 Vietnam, where he took down the Main Event for a whopping VN₫ 3.757 Billion (~₹1.23 Crores). He then cemented his legend status by defending his Main Event title at Poker Dream 11 Malaysia just three months later, winning a mind-blowing MYR 811,629 (~₹1.53 Crores) – his second-biggest live score ever!
But Sharma’s story doesn’t begin there. He first burst onto the international poker scene with an incredible 34th-place finish in the 2018 WSOP Main Event – the second-best performance ever by an Indian in this prestigious event. Now, with ₹9.67 Crores in live winnings, he’s climbed to #9 on India’s all-time money list, surpassing Kunal Patni (₹9.48 Crores).
With the Poker Dream 13 Malaysia Main Event on the horizon, the poker community is eagerly anticipating Sharma’s performance. Can Sharma keep this incredible run going? Can he overtake Raghav Bansal (₹10.08 Crores) at #8? Will he make history with a third Poker Dream Main Event title?
Sharma is undoubtedly the “Indian Star of the Series,” but he’s not the only one making waves. Nikhil Kedia put on a show in Event #9: MYR 15,000 High Roller, finishing fourth and grabbing MYR 141,000 (~₹26.62 Lakhs). Shengnan Wang might have taken the title and MYR 387,000, but Kedia proved he’s a force to be reckoned with.

India’s poker superstar, Nishant Sharma, is an unstoppable force! He’s just added another trophy to his overflowing cabinet, conquering Event #16: MYR 3,000 Mystery Bounty. Imagine facing a field of 395 players, all hungry for the win. Sharma didn’t just survive; he thrived, grabbing a massive MYR 250,500 (~₹49.13 Lakhs), including MYR 35,500 (~₹6.70 Lakhs) in bounties – that’s how you make it rain in Malaysia!
This victory comes hot on the heels of his win in Event #14: MYR 2,000 Pot Limit Omaha just two days earlier. Sharma is proving he can conquer any poker game thrown his way. Peng Chan gave it his all, finishing as runner-up for MYR 137,406, but Sharma was simply in a league of his own.
And it wasn’t just Sharma who flew the Indian flag high in this event. A whole crew of Indian players descended on the tournament, ready to make their mark. With this cash, his total winnings for the series climbed to MYR 16,300 (~₹3.07 Lakhs).
