But wait, there’s more. He achieved the incredible feat of winning three Poker Dream titles in six days!
Sharma’s performance in Malaysia was nothing short of legendary. While Sharma’s achievements were undeniably awe-inspiring, the Indian contingent as a whole made a powerful impact at the Poker Dream 13 Malaysia. Team India’s performance was a resounding declaration of their growing dominance in the international poker arena.
A Main Event For the History Books
The Poker Dream 13 Malaysia Main Event was a spectacle from start to finish. It kicked off on November 18 with 14 starting flights in a range of buy-ins (MYR 2,400, MYR 3,200, and MYR 4,800), so players of all levels could get in on the action. This inclusive format contributed to a massive MYR 5,264,328 prize pool, with the top 192 players guaranteed at least MYR 7,700.
Already a Poker Dream legend, Sharma entered the final day as the chip leader with 5.35 Million chips. He had already proven he was in top form by winning Event #14: MYR 2,000 Pot Limit Omaha and Event #16: MYR 3,000 Mystery Bounty and was simply unstoppable.
The final table was a tense battleground, with Sharma (6.94 Million) facing formidable opponents like Chun Keat Liu (10.74 Million) and Jongbea Jang (7.03 Million). Despite starting third in chips, Sharma’s extensive experience and previous Main Event victories gave him a distinct edge, and he carried it all the way to the finish line. Even Liu, who started as the chip leader, couldn’t withstand Sharma’s relentless pressure, ultimately finishing in a respectable second place with MYR 538,328.
Sharma’s historic win was undoubtedly the highlight, but the overall performance of the Indian contingent was truly remarkable. Indo-Aussie Hari Rajeev Varma, who had an impressive run in Event #30: MYR 30,000 Super High Roller, and Rajan Puvanarajah joined Sharma on the final day, finishing in 14th and 15th place, respectively, with each taking home MYR 46,300 (~₹8.74 Lakhs).
The Indian success story extended far beyond the final table. Numerous talented players from India made deep runs in the Main Event:
Nishant Sharma Soars to #8 on India’s All-Time Money List With an Insane Poker Dream Run
Nishant Sharma just had the best week of his poker career! Get this: he just won three Poker Dream titles in six days at the Poker Dream 13 Malaysia, including the third Main Event title. That’s not just impressive, it’s historic. He’s the only player to ever pull off this kind of hat trick three times! And guess what? This also marks the fourth Poker Dream Main Event title for India, with Zarvan Tumboli grabbing the trophy at Poker Dream 8 Malaysia back in February. It seems like Malaysia is a lucky charm for Indian poker pros!
Sharma completely owned the Poker Dream 13 Malaysia series, raking in a mind-blowing MYR 1.285 Billion (~₹2.43 Crores) across five incredible performances:
Sharma is a household name in Indian poker, and he’s been crushing the live tournament scene for years. Before this incredible Poker Dream run, he was known for his amazing 34th-place finish in the 2018 WSOP Main Event – the second-best performance ever by an Indian player in the biggest poker tournament in the world! But now, his ₹1.76 Crores win at Poker Dream 13 Malaysia has blown that score out of the water, becoming his biggest live cash ever!
This latest victory brings Sharma’s total live titles to eight, and get this – his last five wins have all been at Poker Dream events! He started his winning streak in May at Poker Dream 10 Vietnam, where he took down the Main Event for a whopping VN₫ 3.757 Billion (~₹1.23 Crores). Then, he cemented his legendary status by winning the Main Event again at Poker Dream 11 Malaysia three months later, taking home MYR 811,629 (~₹1.53 Crores). Thanks to his phenomenal performance at Poker Dream 13 Malaysia, Sharma’s live tournament earnings have skyrocketed to an astounding ₹11.47 Crores. This incredible jump has pushed him past Raghav Bansal (₹10.08 Crores) to claim the #8 spot on India’s all-time money list!
