It`s the final stretch for the Poker Dream Vietnam, taking place at the Hoiana Hotel & Suites KHOS in Quảng Nam, Vietnam, with just three days left for the inaugural series to wrap up! A small contingent of Indian pros is in attendance at the festival, and the team has already picked up eight scores, including three final-table finishes and a title!

The latest players to add to Team India’s ever-growing tally are Young Gun Shardul Parthasarathi, Kunal Patni, and Young Gun Sanat Mehrotra!

Poker coach Shardul Parthasarathi finished 11th in the High Roller Single Day for VN₫ 180 Million, posting his second cash of the series. It was also the 2022 APT Vietnam Hanoi Main Event champion’s second time scoring in a High Roller in the ongoing series.

Hong Kong’s Vincent Kwun Ngai Li shipped the High Roller Single Day for VN₫ 1.971 Billion, posting his most significant score on the Asian circuit to date.

While Parthasarathi was the top-scoring Indian on Thursday, Kunal Patni didn`t do too bad either, as he stormed into the final table of the Deepstack. Sadly, being the shortest stack at the start of the final table, the Mystery Bounty winner bowed out in ninth place, netting VN₫ 38.90 Million. Young Gun Sanat Mehrotra was the other Indian who cashed the Deepstack, finishing 25th for VN₫ 17.70 Million.

Vietnam’s Dang Thanh Luong championed the Deepstack for VN₫ 379.18 Million.

The Indian contingent made quite the splash in the showstopper VN₫ 10 Billion GTD Main Event, with three players from the team advancing through Day 1A yesterday. The first of the three starting flights saw 293 entries ante-up the XXX entry fee in an attempt at locking up a Day 2 seat. Only 77 succeeded in the endeavor, with the first-ever WPT Vietnam Main Event champion Dhaval Mudgal (231,500) bagging the day`s sixth-biggest stack.

Young Guns Shardul Parthasarathi (179,500) and Neel Joshi (102,500) also made the onward journey to Day 2, and Korea’s Hojin Kim (310,500) topped the Day 1A chip counts.

Day 1B is presently underway and has already locked in 329 entries, with India`s Abhinav Iyer, Kunal Patni, and Sanat Mehrotra reported in action.

Hong Kong’s Ryan Mingho Yum (Won Short Deck High Roller for VN₫ 908 Million), Korea’s Jin Young Gi (Won NLH Turbo for VN₫ 115 Million), and Malaysia’s Jonathan Looi Tek-Wye (Won KO Bounty Turbo for VN₫ 118 Million) took down the other side events on Thursday!

 

Hong Kong’s Vincent Kwun Ngai Li Ships High Roller Single Day (VN₫ 1.971 Billion); India’s Shardul Parthasarathi Finishes 11th (VN₫ 180 Million)

Hong Kong’s Vincent Kwun Ngai Li came out on top of the 77-entry field in the VN₫ 100 Million buy-in High Roller Single Day to win the lion`s share of the VN₫ 7.168 Billion prize pool worth VN₫ 1.971 Billion – his best score on the Asian circuit and his second-best career finish behind his victory run in 2018 The Wynn Summer Classic in Las Vegas. Li also lifted the brand’s custom-designed silver dragon trophy, becoming the second champion from Hong Kong.

Vietnam’s Tran Huy Hoang finished runner-up for VN₫ 1.401 Million.

India’s Shardul Parthasarathi placed 11th for VN₫ 180 Million, picking up his second cash in the series.

Vietnam’s Dang Thanh Luong Champions Deepstack (VN₫ 379.18 Million); India’s Kunal Patni Finishes 9th (VN₫ 38.90 Million)

The two-day-long VN₫ 10 Million buy-in Deepstack had 206 hopefuls vying for a share of the VN₫ 1.798 Billion prize pool. Local player Dang Thanh Luong was the last one standing and won the trophy, getting Vietnam its first title of the series and VN₫ 379.18 Million in prize money. Korea’s Changwon Lee came second for VN₫ 255.10 Million.

Indian pro Kunal Patni grabbed a lot of attention by storming into the final table! The Mystery Bounty winner was chasing his second title of the series but had a tough climb ahead as he entered the final leg as the shortest stack among the nine finalists. He ultimately fell in ninth place for VN₫ 38.90 Million.

Young Gun Sanat Mehrotra was the other Indian player who made the payouts list, finishing 25th for VN₫ 17.70 Million, his first score in the South-Asian circuit.

The VN₫ 6 Million buy-in event created a VN₫ 419 Million prize pool and paid out 11 places.

Malaysian player Jonathan Looi Tek-Wye was the last player standing in the KO Bounty Turbo and won the title for VN₫ 118 Million (VN₫ 2 Million in bounties).

The VN₫ 8 Million buy-in Bounty event had 80 entrants signing up to play, and the top 11 finishers got a share of the VN₫ 358.72 Million prize pool.

Korea’s Hojin Kim Bagged the Top Stack Among 77 Survivors on Day 1A of the Main Event; India’s Dhaval Mudgal, Shardul Parthasarathi & Neel Joshi Advance to Day 2

The much-awaited VN₫ 10 Billion GTD Main Event finally got underway on Thursday. The opening flight registered 293 entries, with only 77 surviving the day’s onslaught. The 6-Handed Event champion Hojin Kim (310,500) emerged as the end-of-day chip leader, while Jeffrey Tan Pamplona (280,500) and Jenam Yu (280,500) carried forward the day`s other top stacks.
