The 2021 Poker Masters played out Event #2: $10K NLHE on Thursday. Six finalists from a starting field of 86 runners returned to the PokerGO Studio at the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas for Day 2. The start-of-day chip leader Sean Perry (cover image) went toe-to-toe as he eliminated four of his five opponents to score a thumping victory for $206,400.

“I’m so ecstatic. I came here thinking I would be so honored to win the Poker Masters, and now I’m in prime contention after cashing the first event and winning the second event. I just won in a star-studded field against people I grew up watching play, my idols. These guys are phenomenal. I’m so honored and so happy,” Perry said after the win.

Just two days ago, Perry had bubbled the Event #1 final table, finishing eighth for $32,800. With the Event #2 victory, he has catapulted himself to the #1 position on the Poker Masters Leaderboard with 239 points, pushing Event #1 champion Shannon Shorr (205 points) and runner-up David Peters (148 points) one rung down each.

Perry acknowledged topping the series leaderboard to win the Poker Masters Purple Jacket would be a dream come true. “It would mean the world to me,” he said, outlining his ambitious plans, “I want to win Player of the Year for PokerGO, which would be so awesome, but winning the Poker Masters – oh, man. I’d look so good wearing that Purple Jacket going clubbing, and I’d wear it to every final table. It’d be so nice.”

The final table was a stacked one, and it drew more attention than usual because of the presence of Daniel Negreanu. The GGPoker Ambassador ended Day 2 sporting the shortest stack but got off to a decent start to eventually place third for $103,200. Negreanu kept his Twitter followers updated on his progress.

The tournament collected an $860,000 prize pool, and the top 13 spots earned at least $17,200.

Sean Perry had gathered quite a lot of momentum on Day 1 itself, where he entered the unofficial final table of nine with over a million in chips. He went on a heater towards the end of the day, bagging up a massive 3,565,000 by the time the six-handed final table was formed.
