PokerGO Cup 2023: Alex Foxen Wins Event #6: $25K NLHE ($317,040), Storming to #2 on the PokerGO Cup Leaderboard

The two-time GPI Player of the Year & WSOP bracelet winner Alex Foxen (cover image) came out on top in the 2023 PokerGO Cup Event #6: $25K NLHE at the PokerGO Studio inside the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, claiming his first title of 2023 for $317,040.

 

 

The American pro outlasted the 50-entry-strong field before agreeing to a heads-up deal with Turkish high roller & WSOP bracelet winner Orpen Kisacikoglu (2nd for $345,460).

Foxen had previously come close to claiming the title in series-opener Event #1: $10K NLHE but ultimately placed runner-up for $153,000. This was his second score of the series, and it also fetched him 190 leaderboard points, helping him jump straight to #2 in the PokerGO Cup leaderboard race with 343 points behind Event #5: $15K NLHE winner Anthony Hu (454 points).

This win brought Foxen his seventh PokerGO Tour title and second PokerGO Cup title. In July 2021, Foxen won his first PokerGO Cup title in Event #1: $10K NLHE for $178,200. According to his hendonmob.com profile, Foxen now has $27.54 Million in live tournament winnings.

The 50-player field in the $25K event generated a prize pool of $1,250,000, and the top 8 finishers made it in the money.

Brian Kim money-bubbled the tournament in ninth place.

Nick Schulman (7th for $62,500) and GGPoker Ambassador Daniel Negreanu (8th for $50,000) were others who cashed the event but fell short of the final table.

Sam Soverel was the first player to be eliminated on the six-handed final table after his ran into Cary Katz’s .

Following Soverel’s exit, Sean Perry busted in fifth place. His were crushed by Aram Oganyan’s .

Up next, Cary Katz was knocked out in fourth place after his were unable to hold against Aram Oganyan’s . The board gave Oganyan a pair of aces.

After a lengthy third-handed play, Aram Oganyan went out in third place. His found no help against Orpen Kisacikoglu’s on the board.

The heads-up action between Orpen Kisacikoglu and Alex Foxen began with Kisacikoglu having more than a 3:1 lead over Foxen. The chip lead changed hands a few times before the duo agreed to an ICM chop that saw Kisacikoglu taking $345,460 and Foxen taking $317,040.

The two flipped in a series of all-in pots to determine a winner. On the final hand, Foxen’s held against Kisacikoglu’s to win the tournament.
