The high-stakes MTT action at PokerGO Tour’s 2022 PokerGO Cup is approaching the finish line. On Wednesday, high-stakes specialist and the 2021 PokerGO Player of the Year Ali Imsirovic (cover image) fought past a field of 43 entries to win the penultimate tourney on the schedule – Event #7: $25K NLHE, all for a $365,000 paycheque!

Imsirovic had entered the final day with a chip lead and went toe-to-toe to claim the bragging rights, eventually defeating Sam Soverel heads-up.

Event #7 is the third PokerGO Cup event Imsirovic has won. Last year, the 27-year-old Bosnian had dominated the PokerGO Tour season with an astounding 34 cashes and $6 Million in total winnings. With this win, Imsirovic’s live tournament winnings have crossed the $16 Million mark, and he has catapulted to the #4 spot on the 2022 PokerGO Cup leaderboard.

Event #4 winner Jeremy Ausmus (504 points) placed third in Event #7, consolidating his lead in the PokerGO Cup leaderboard standings. Cary Katz (346 points) and Brock Wilson (320 points) sit at #2 and #3.

The series finale, Event #8: $50K NLHE, plays down to a winner on Thursday, February 9. Unless Katz or Wilson make a top-two finish in the event (and assuming Ausmus doesn`t cash), Ausmus will collect the PokerGO Cup Championship title.

PokerGO tweeted about Imsirovic’s win, sharing his post-win interview.

The tournament generated a $1,075,000 prize pool, and only the final seven players got paid.

Interestingly, Imsirovic hit the million-chip milestone early on Day 1 after eliminating Nick Petrangelo in Level 9. By the time the field had whittled down to nine players, Imsirovic was second in chips behind Soverel. He eliminated Jason Koon on the money bubble before knocking out Roger Sippl (7th for $43,000) to close out Day 1 with over 2.67 Million in chips.

On the final day, Imsirovic first took out Darren Elias and Cary Katz. After Nick Schulman`s fourth-place dismissal, Imsirovic dispatched Jeremy Ausmus to go heads-up against Soverel.

Soverel attempted to turn the tables, but Imsirovic was singing the victory song in the end. The final hand saw the duo go all-in with Imsirovic’s flopping two-pair on the runout against Soverel’s .
