We’d keep it quiet in doling out the juicy gossip for you if only there was none! But the world of poker is full of thrills and action and so here we are, with another must-read edition of our PokerGuru Gossip Column, bringing only the most entertaining stories that are doing the rounds in the poker fraternity.
Our first story revolves around poker’s living legend, Doyle Brunson, who had openly questioned and criticized Daniel Negreanu for offering online poker training on MasterClass few weeks back but has now come up with his own online poker course!
We then move to Hollywood where yet another movie on poker ‘Walk To Vegas’ is being made, and it’s the World Poker Tour (WPT) that is co-producing it while WPT commentator Vince Van Patten plays the lead role.
Poker senior and ten-time bracelet winner Doyle Brunson is quite an active face on social media and last we heard, he had openly reprimanded fellow bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu on Twitter for teaching poker in an online training course with MasterClass. Taking potshots at Negreanu, Brunson made no bones about his opinion that teaching people to play poker was a mistake and a waste of time.
Daniel…you are the best tournament player in the world. Why are you educating people? Don’t make the same mistake I did with S/S. I justify my teaching that it created lots of new players that we sorely need. Today there are plenty of players…just saying. https://t.co/nxx840bFiA

Now, believe it or not, Brunson is about to walk the same path himself! If Brunson’s latest announcement on Twitter is anything to go by, the 84-year old has teamed up with his son Todd to launch the online poker training course, the ‘Doyle & Todd Brunson Advanced Poker Learning System’.

The course is an online experience costing $149 and covers a training book, audio CDs, hand charts and access to the course training material. Overall the father and son have covered aspects like balancing ranges, board texture, combos and blockers, push/fold charts, ranges, math, tells and mental game.
We only ask, is it hypocrisy or has the wise old hat taken quick lessons on channeling his knowledge into a saleable package from Negreanu who happens to be one of the most successful poker professional in the world?
There’s been no shortage of Hollywood movies on poker to watch and with the new movie project ‘Walk to Vegas’ in the finishing stages, poker fans may soon have yet another entertainer full of the action they love!
The movie has been scripted by celebrity poker host and commentator with World Poker Tour (WPT) Vince Van Patten and is based on a true story about Hollywood biggies who would bet on anything. Van Patten himself is playing the protagonist ‘Duke’ while prominent poker players Phil Laak, Antonio Esfandiari and Mike Sexton are also making appearances!
WPT has a big role to play in the project and is the co-producer with plans to market it to their poker viewership.
Van Patten shared updates on the movie’s post-production status on his July 17th tweet.
Still finishing up post production Bob …so in about 5 weeks we’ll show you a private screening since your amazing TRIMINO WATER is prominent in the film. Going to a few festivals then theatrical release later in the year for “WALK TO VEGAS”! https://t.co/8dLd0fwvSG

According to Van Patten’s wife, Emmy award winner Eileen Davidson, it was her who encouraged him to make the movie. “Everybody loves movies about Hollywood. You’ve got to write your story… and oh yeah, I’d better play your wife or else,” she said.
It’s really isn’t surprising since being the son of the legendary Dick Van Patten, Patten has a close connect with Hollywood and even starred in projects like ‘The Six Million Dollar Man’, Baywatch, and Rock ‘n’ Roll High School.
