We are back with what looks like the last Gossip Column of this month unless something more dramatic happens in the world of poker today. Well, this time its just one story but it is a tale that needs to be told separately. Robbery in Las Vegas and that too in the extremely secured casinos, sounds like a Hollywood movie plot, right? Yes, a few really got inspired by Steven Soderbergh’s Oceans 11 and 13. But this time the fiction became a reality as the Bellagio poker cage got robbed by a masked lone gunman!

All we can do is quote the popular lunch scene dialogue from Reuben Tishkoff in Oceans 11; “I know more about casino security than any man alive, I invented it, and it cannot be beaten. They got cameras, they got locks, they got watchers, they got timers, they got vaults, they got enough armed personnel to occupy Paris! You guys are pros. The best. I’m sure you can make it out of the casino. Of course, lest we forget, once you’re out the front door, you’re still in the middle of the fucking desert!”

We guess one got away, at least for now. Well, sit back for this one, trust us.

Masked Gunman Robs Bellagio Poker Room

It all went down the drain on October 28 (Tuesday) when the poker cage in the Bellagio Hotel & Casino at the Las Vegas Strip got robbed in broad daylight by a masked bandit who carried a handgun and fled the scene soon thereafter. No one was injured in the robbery and authorities are still searching for the armed robber.

Investigators also said that the masked suspect walked up to the cashier cage in the hotel’s poker room area with a handgun and demanded money, walking away with an undisclosed amount of cash. He fled in a silver Chevrolet Cruze with the Nevada license plate number 37D147. The vehicle in question was recovered later by the Las Vegas robbery section detectives.

The gunman is being described as a white man between 30 – 40 years old, about 5’7″ to 5’9″ tall and weighing 160 – 170 lbs. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, a blue tee shirt, blue jeans, a beanie cap and a disguise including a blonde wig, black-rimmed glasses and white mask covering his face.

Metro Capt. John Pelletier said that the man arrived in a car in the valet area with another man who was there against his will. He did not elaborate, but said police were interviewing the man.

Pelletier quoted, “Those that commit crimes like this on the Strip Will be hunted down. And whatever amount of money he got is not enough for a lifetime in prison.

Actor James Woods was gambling nearby and tweeted about the robbery –

Doyle Brunson was apparently at Bobby’s poker room when the robbery was taking place and tweeted –

Bellagio regular, Randy Ohel, tweeted about the incident too –

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department quickly issued a Twitter alert –

That is about all for this session. We bid you adieu. Till next time…
