PokerMatch India Makes a Splash in the Indian Poker Scene By Becoming the Title Sponsor of MIPL Season 5

Shortly after stepping foot in the Indian poker diaspora, PokerMatch India has formed a collaboration with the world’s first professional Match Poker league, Match Indian Poker League (MIPL), by becoming the title sponsor of Season 5 of the league.

Season 5 of Match IPL will take place in February with a minimum of six teams. The exact dates are yet to be announced, but the hype has been building up for a long time.

Regarding the collaboration, Ruslan Bangert, CEO of PokerMatch International, said, “Over the past few years, we have been analyzing the Indian market in detail, recognizing its sustainability and dynamism. The good news is that anyone can win a berth in the league. Qualifiers for Season 5 commenced on December 21 on PokerMatch India and will run till January 15. With over a week of the Qualifiers left to run, there is still time to join the action!

Over and above the chance to represent the country on the global stage, there are attractive cash prizes to be won! The top nine finishers of the Final Stage qualifiers will split the ₹1 Lakh prize pool every Sunday.

About MIPL

Founded in 2017, the league was jointly created by the International Federation of Match Poker (IFMP) and Viaan Industries. The complete ownership and management of the league and all relevant IP has now been transferred over to the federation and its commercial partner West Nally Pvt Ltd. The league will continue to be sanctioned by the Indian national federation, the Match Holdem Sports Confederation, and the winning team will go on to represent the Indian national team at global Match Poker events.

MIPL has already had four successful seasons. Over the years, more than ₹8.60 Crores in prize money has been awarded in match poker tournaments, with the winning teams representing India in the Match Poker Nations Cup.

Season 1 was championed by the Mumbai All-Stars in November 2017, with Haryana Hawks taking down Season 2 in April 2018. Pune Kings emerged victorious in Season 3, held in October 2018. Haryana Hawks became the first team to win the MIPL twice when they won Season 4 in November 2019.
