PokerRaj, a recent entrant in the Indian online business has been quickly gaining popular ground to establish itself as a robust virtual platform. In a big move, the site has roped in Bollywood and TV actor Anita Hassanandani (cover image) as its brand ambassador.

On Tuesday, Viaan Industries that is owned and promoted by entrepreneur Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty Kundra, officially announced that Hassanandani would be joining PokerRaj as it’s first brand ambassador.

“PokerRaj, the King of Poker Finds Its Queen!” an official statement from PokerRaj read.

Confirming this, Raj Kundra, Chairman and Managing Director of Viaan Industries welcomed Hassanandani onboard the PokerRaj team. “Anita is a positive vibrant person and quite a trooper! She has been a lucky charm at all our poker events and plays the sport well. We welcome her on as the Brand Ambassador of Poker Raj and we now have a queen of poker!” he said.

Hassanandani was equally ecstatic on joining the PokerRaj team. “I’ve always expressed my love for the sport of poker and now I’m even more excited to announce my partnership with PokerRaj. Poker is evolving in India and I’m happy to be a part of this growth story,” Hassanandani said.

Hassanandani’s Association With Poker

Interestingly, Bollywood and poker have shared a close association, and many Bollywood A-listers like Shahid Kapoor and Aamir Khan have expressed their love for the game.

Former Bollywood actress Minissha Lamba has been playing poker for the last eight years and has participated in various poker tournaments including the India Poker Championship (IPC) and Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT). In October 2017, Lamba was signed by Adda52 as its first celebrity pro.

Another Bollywood star to endorse poker is Arjun Rampal, who joined online poker website, PokerHigh as its brand ambassador in June 2017.

Hassanandani, who made her Bollywood debut in Subhash Ghai‘s Taal in 1999, has acted in a number of TV serials has always been vocal about her love for poker. And she loves to play the game!

In 2017, Hassanandani was part of the Harman Baweja-led Mumbai All-Stars that won Season 1 of the Match IPL and represented Team India at the IFMP Nations Cup in 2017.

Her connect with poker, is one of the top reasons why she was hand-picked as the brand ambassador for PokerRaj, Kundra informs.

Viaan Industries entered the Indian poker industry with the launch of MatchIPL, a poker league launched in partnership with the International Federation of Match Poker (IFMP) last year. In under 13 months, Match IPL has already played out three seasons and the launch of PokerRaj seems to be an obvious extension for the company that is looking to consolidate its presence in the poker industry.

After hosting MTV Pro Hunt that offered players a chance to qualify for any of the eight teams that competed in Season 3 of MatchIPL (October 23-24), PokerRaj is presently hosting Sunday-special Nation’s Cup qualifiers (November 13, 2018 – January 6, 2019). The winner of the finale will win the grand prize of an all-expenses paid trip to Ireland for a chance to represent Team India at the IFMP Nations Cup next year.

While the brand has hinted towards a celebrity poker tournament sometime in the future, by signing Hassanandani as its ambassador, PokerRaj is most certainly aiming to add that extra tinge of glamour to its current offerings!
