We`ve seen a thundering start to the New Year with power-packed performances by some of the best poker players in the country. PokerStars India`s mega leaderboard race, “Star of the Month” is one contest that`s starting to pick up steam as players gear up to become the first “Star of the Month” of 2021. The January race is past the halfway stage already, and a new brigade of 25 qualifiers has stormed their way into the month-ending January Finale.

Online regular Anirban D. Das hogs the limelight this week and for a good reason. The Delhi-based MTT reg was in crackling form this past week as not a single day went by when Das didn’t get results for his efforts; he finished ITM in at least one qualifying tournament every day, pulling in an impressive 10 scores through the week! Das collected 805 TLB points through the week, placing second to ‘flipper595’ (852 points). Since the anonymous player is not registered on PokerGuru, Das tops the 25 qualifiers making it into the January Finale.

Harsh Bubna (783 points), Young Gun Anmol Mehta (645 points), Leela P (397 points), and Pratibh Saluja (379 points) round out the top five players on the January Week #2 standings.

A close look at the qualifiers list shows a band of top regs who have made their way into the January Finale. Some notable names include Young Gun Gaurav Sood (358 points), Sahil Mahboobani (355 points), Young Gun Arsh Grover (351 points), Ranjeet Negi (335 points), PokerGuru Ambassadors Mithun Mahesh (324 points), Parikshit Dhall (314 points), Devvrat Arya (20 points), and Laksh Pal Singh (264 points), Mahesh S (246 points) and Young Gun Shardul Parthasarathi (225 points).

The “Star of the Month” is a mega leaderboard race that ranks players who score in the 7.30 PM and 10.30 PM tourneys from Monday to Saturday and the 5 PM and 10.30 PM tourneys on Sunday. Each week, the top 25-ranked players qualify for the month-ending Finale that awards ₹1.15 Lakhs in MTT tickets and a PokerStars India goodie bag to the winner. The runner-up receives ₹35,000 worth of tournament tickets.
