The clock has reset in PokerStars India’s “Star of the Month” (SOTM) leaderboard race, with the promotion entering its fifth-month last week. On January 27, Himanshu Dwivedi championed the 100-player January Finale to become the first “Star of the Month” in 2021.
MTT players on PokerStars India had two qualifying tourneys daily to collect TLB points for a shot at making it into the top 25 on February Week #1 standings. PokerGuru Ambassador Mithun Mahesh, who has made it into the SOTM Finale every month, barring November, topped the Week #1 charts on the back of his roaring performance last week. He won two primetime tourneys on PokerStars India, starting with the ₹5 Lakhs GTD Sixth Sense on January 26 and the Eliminator PKO on Saturday to collect 769 TLB points.
Mithun is a reasonable distance ahead of the #2 ranked Anirban D. Das (575 points), the Week #2 topper last month. Aman Bhadu (548 points), Armaan Kochhar (534 points), and PokerGuru Ambassador Devvrat Arya (474 points) fill up the top five spots on the February Week #1 standings.
Given its structure, the “Star of the Month” leaderboard inevitably has some of the country’s best poker players vying for the title. And this time as well, a long list of top regs has qualified for the Finale. The list includes Utsav Taneja (367 points), Sahil Mahboobani (345 points), Sagar Choudhury (340 points), Bharath Kumar (278 points), Sandeep Varma (272 points), Ayush Garg (267 points), Vaibhav Bhatia (257 points), Rishab Jain (240 points) and Young Gun Gaurav Sood (224 points).
The “Star of the Month” – December, Siddharth Gangwar, who had topped the Week #1 standings last month, also features on the list of qualifiers with 372 points.
To refresh the “Star of the Month” promotion, this is a mega leaderboard race that ranks players basis their ITM scores in two qualifying tourneys running daily on PokerStars India at – 7.30 PM and 10.30 PM from Monday to Saturday – and 5 PM and 10.30 PM on Sundays. Each week, the top 25 ranked players advance to the month-ending Finale. The winner of the 100-player Finale is named the “Star of the Month” and collects ₹1.15 Lakhs worth in MTT tickets and a PokerStars branded goodie bag. The runner-up receives MTT tickets worth ₹35,000.
