PokerStars India “Star of the Month:” Abhishek Sonu, Sreeharsha Boneni & Goonjan Mall Take the Top 3 Spots in the February Week #2 Standings

PokerStars India’s “Star of the Month” (SOTM) – February race completed its Week #2 run on Sunday, and as always, there is a new batch of 25 qualifiers winning a ticket for the month-ending Finale. The February Finale is to be held on February 24 at 9 PM.

Monday`s Bigstack Turbo winner, Abhishek Sonu, tops the Week #2 standings. He got to work early and FT-ed three more tourneys through the week to take a convincing lead with 776 TLB points.

Sitting at #2 behind Abhishek Sonu is Sreeharsha Boneni (595 points), with top regs Goonjan Mall (570 points) and Kunal Patni (454 points) next on the list. Rounding out the top-five is Tuesday`s Night on Stars champion Shivam Shukla (426 points).

The Finale promises to be a fiercely contested one as several circuit regs; namely, Parth Aggarwal (403 points), Ranjeet Negi (363 points), Manish Lakhotia (306 points), Chirag Sodha (262 points), Sandy Lamba (244 points), Rubin Labroo (230 points), Vikram Mishra (221 points), Anish Garg (218 points), Chandan Arora (207 points), and Shravan Chhabria (203 points) are among the Week #2 qualifiers.

For the uninitiated, the “Star of the Month” promotion awards players TLB points for making it in the money in two qualifying tourneys running daily on PokerStars India. The start times of these tourneys are –

Monday to Saturday – 7.30 PM and 10.30 PM

Sunday – 5 PM and 10.30 PM

The top 25 ranked players on the leaderboard standings each week (Monday-Sunday) get enlisted for the month-ending Finale. In case a player has qualified in previous weeks, the next ranked player is given the ticket, hence ensuring a 100-player quorum for the Finale. The Finale winner is declared the “Star of the Month” and wins tournament tickets worth ₹1.15 Lakhs on the site and a PokerStars India branded goodie bag. The runner-up finisher receives MTT tickets worth ₹35,000.

Leaderboard Points – 776

Former DIWALI RUSH-2 Sunday Special SE champion Abhishek ‘Addysonu’ Sonu came whiskers close to winning a second Uppercut MAGIC Edition title this week. He also took third place in the Sunday Special Limited Edition to ladder up the TLB standings with 776 points.

2. Sreeharsha Boneni

This week’s Battle Royale champion Sreeharsha ‘yUDdam’ Boneni, came agonizing close to taking down the Eliminator on Saturday. The two-top finishes fetched him 595 points.

3. Goonjan Mall

Leaderboard Points – 570

Goonjan ‘gmtesting.ind’ Mall, who crossed ₹6 Crores in lifetime earnings last night, has a fast-growing poker resume. On Thursday, he shipped the Uppercut MAGIC Edition for ₹1.91 Lakhs. With two other ITM finishes, this entrepreneur-cum-poker pro has stormed his way into the February Finale with 570 TLB points.

– 15th in the Highroller ₹10 Lakhs GTD for ₹15,185 on February 4

– 1st in the Uppercut MAGIC Edition ₹10 Lakh GTD for ₹1.91 Lakhs on February 5

– 33rd in the Sunday Special Limited Edition ₹15 Lakhs GTD for ₹8,990 on February 7

 

4. Kunal Patni

Leaderboard Points – 454

Former banker Kunal ‘iAlwaysHaveit’ Patni would have won the Highroller on Thursday had it not been for the February Week #1 qualifier, Sagar ‘sagarpupull’ Choudhury.

Nonetheless, a runner-up finish in the Highroller with another two ITM finishes fetched him the #4 rank in the Week #2 standings with 454 points.

Tuesday`s Night on Stars winner Shivam ‘brooskyradio1’ Shukla also final tabled the Uppercut MAGIC edition to spin up on the leaderboard with 426 TLB points.
