The PokerStars India-hosted “Star of the Month” mega leaderboard race is turning out to be a tightly fought contest. We’re now past the three-week marker in the January-leg of the race, and joining the likes of Week #1 topper Siddharth Gangwar and Week #2 topper Anirban D. Das in the January Finale (slated for February 3) is a fresh group of 25 qualifiers from Week #3.
And topping the Week #3 standing was Shubham Chaudhury. Chaudhury had a rollicking start to the week after winning the ₹1 Lakh GTD Bigstack Turbo on Tuesday for ₹23,078. He landed his biggest score of the week on Wednesday with a runner-up finish in the ₹5 Lakhs GTD Night on Star for ₹55,036. Add to that two more ITM finishes, and Chaudhary sailed through as the #1 ranked player on the Week #3 leaderboard standings with 590 TLB points!
Young Gun Sahil Chutani (517 points), Shubham Agarwal (475 points), the INCOOP Main Event champion Sanish Chhabra (473 points), and Bharath Kumar (433 points) round out the top five positions on the Week #3 standings.
As always, several other top regs are making their way into the month-ending Finale as well. Some prominent names include Rishabh Jain (415 points), PokerGuru Ambassador Ankit Wadhawan (413 points), Myron Pereira (352 points), Pranav Khandalkar (240 points), Adwait Pol (198 points), PokerGuru Ambassador Arjanveer Singh (198 points), JaiKiran Kumar (152 points) and Pranay Chawla (149 points).
Here is a quick walkthrough on the rules in the off chance that you are not aware of the “Star of the Month” promotion. The leaderboard race ranks players basis their ITM finishes in two qualifying tourneys daily – at 7.30 PM and 10.30 PM from Monday to Saturday – and at 5 PM and 10.30 PM on Sundays. The top 25 ranked players each week advance to the month-ending Finale.

Shubham ‘theViperArena’ Chaudhary got a headstart in the weekly race as he won the ₹1 Lakh GTD Bigstack Turbo on Tuesday for ₹23,078. He was on the verge of winning back-to-back titles and came close with a runner-up finish in the ₹5 Lakh GTD Night on Stars on Wednesday for ₹55,036. He cashed in two other qualifying tourneys last week, working up a tally of 590 TLB points.

Young Gun Sahil állezjuju’ Chutani needs no introduction. This old-timer is a cash game reg, but he is no rookie in tourneys either. The seasoned reg hit a massive ₹3.98 Lakhs score last night after taking down the ₹17 Lakhs GTD Winter Series – 2 Sunday Special. The win fetched him 517 TLB points, enough to book him a seat in the January Finale.

3. Shubham Agarwal

The second Shubham on the January Week #3 qualifiers list, Shubham Agarwal, aka ‘backchod launda,’ unlike Chutani, had to work for his place in the Finale and got there after cashing six qualifying tourneys this past week, working up a tally of 475 TLB points.

Another familiar name on the qualifiers list, Sanish ‘sneakysani’ Chhabra, is best known for winning the first-ever INCOOP Main Event in September last year for ₹14.52 Lakhs. He got active in the race mid-week and cashed in three qualifying tourneys.

Rounding out the top 5 on the Week #3 standings is Bharath ‘hzgod’ Kumar. A PokerStars India regular, Kumar lapped up four scores – all of them in the primetime tourneys – to book his seat in the January Finale.
