PokerStars has now launched another initiative in California, to further push its goals to commence online poker in the state. The initiative has been termed Let California Play! PokerStars Pro Tour. The tour will include popular players, such as Daniel Negreanu, Chris Moneymaker, Vanessa Selbst, Jason Somerville and Liv Boeree.
The above pros will play against a number of poker players across the state to show how both consumers and brick and mortar casinos will benefit, once online poker is regulated and authorized in the Bear state. The initiative is a collaboration between PokerStars and several land-based casinos in California.
The “Let California Play” tour will begin on July 17. Speaking about the exercise, Negreanu, one of the most vociferous players stated, “It’s really important for poker players to make their voices heard among the decision makers in California and tell them ‘Let California Play’.”
Making things clearer, Eric Hollreiser, Head of Corporate Communications, Amaya & PokerStars said, “Poker players can play an important role in shaping the debate around iPoker in California so we’re looking to spark conversations in poker rooms up and down the state.”
He added, “We have a simple message: Let California Play!”
This is PokerStars’ second step, after its website california4ipoker.com launch, with two Indian tribes and three Los Angeles based card rooms in retaliation against the radio offensive unleashed by the hostile Veijas Tribe. The tribe is seeking to stop the site from entering the state and PokerStars decided to fight back with its own campaign, by educating Californians about the benefits of regulated online poker.
