Showtime Hold ‘em poker, a much talked of new game variant by PokerStars, that comes with a twist to the classic Texas Hold ‘em game has now been launched. While the game icon was showing up on PokerStars.com client over the past few weeks, it was launched on May 23 and is now fully functional and available to play.

PokerStars has revealed details and features of its latest star offer. Showtime Hold ‘em plays on essentially the same mechanics as Hold ‘em but allows players to get a good look at their opponents’ playing styles. The game will feature a six-handed table with a maximum buy-in of 80 big blinds. PokerStars will be running Showtime Hold ‘em on trial basis on the PokerStars.com client.

Coming out with details, PokerStars’ director of poker innovation and operations, Severin Rasset said that in Showtime Hold ‘em, cards that are folded by a player when he gives up on a hand, that are not revealed as in the traditional Texas Hold ‘em game, will be opened for all to see.

“It is a real pleasure to offer this second temporary variant to our players. The possibility to see all folded cards will introduce some fascinating strategic adjustments to the traditional and well-loved no-limit hold’em game”,Rasset added.

In a tweet, PokerStars has shared its PokerStars School link with instructions on playing the game.

In a PokerStars video recorded during the EPT Monte Carlo, poker pros Lex Veldhuis, Ben Spragg and Filtan Hand who are part of the PokerStars Team Online discussed the new game.

Even one card makes such a big difference. This was a very interesting new twist on a game we all know and love,” Veldhuis said, in the video.

With this new game, PokerStars that had to remove Split Hold ‘em from its site after a month`s trial run is hoping to evoke more interest amid recreational players.
