The largest, richest and most eagerly anticipated online poker series in the world is on our doorsteps as the schedule for the 2018 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) has been announced by the online poker giant PokerStars. Starting from September 2 on PokerStars.com, the series will conclude on September 17, with a full platter of 61 events and over $116 Million in guaranteed prizes to be won!

The star attraction of the series – Main Event, boasts of a massive $10 Million guarantee and will begin on the penultimate day i.e. September 16. The Main Event pulled in 2,183 entries last year and was taken down by Steven van Zadelhoff who took home a massive payday of $1.6 Million. Other past winners include Fedor Holz, Jonas Lauck, JC Tran and Yevgeniy Timoshenko.

This year, the WCOOP will be slightly different from past years. PokerStars has elected to provide tiered buy-ins which means players with variable bankrolls can participate in the events and can enter for as low as $2.20. There are plenty of events at a price point of $50 or less.

Furthermore, six Platinum Passes will be up for grabs to the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) to be held in the Bahamas in January 2019. Worth $30,000 each, the Platinum Passes includes a $25,000 PSPC buy-in, accommodation at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort and approximately $2,000 for travel and expenses.
