The curtains have finally fallen on the biggest-ever Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) series hosted by PokerStars. SCOOP has been the mainstay of PokerStars` May schedule for over a decade, and this year the summer series kicked off promising a massive $85 Million in prize pool guarantees. Initially set for a 20-day sojourn, the series was to wrap up on May 20. However, given the overwhelming initial response – some of which can be attributed to the global lockdown – PokerStars willingly extended the series until May 31, adding 132 events to the schedule.

The extension helped bolster the overall prize pool guarantee to $135 Million, making the 2020 SCOOP the biggest online series in poker history – overtaking the $100 Million guaranteed WSOP Super Circuit Online Series.

Headlining a long list of SCOOP winners was ‘Alexgirs’ (#74-High for $921K), ‘Hayashi’ (#74-Med for $920K), and ‘auercan’ (#74-Low for $372K), who each won an NLHE Main Event title last week.

The biggest story at the series, however, was poker phenom Connor Drinan, who, playing under the moniker ‘blanconegro,’ scripted history. He won an incredible five titles at the series, overshadowing the previous record of four titles won by Shaun Deeb. He won his fifth title in the $10,300 PLO 6-Max Main Event for $322K.

The closing events of the series saw Barbados native ‘b@d0s’ beat UK’s ‘AtanasPPP’ heads-up in Event #121-H: $1,050 NLHE Progressive KO 8-Max to earn the top prize of $271K. In Event #121-M: $109 NLHE Progressive KO 8-Max Sunday Million SE, Clark ‘snake8484’ Hamagami was crowned as the victor and banked $197K.
