PokerStars is currently hosting its biggest-ever Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) series. The action reached breakneck speed over the weekend and towering over the numerous side events was the trio of NLHE 8-Max Main Events and the three PLO 6-Max Main Events that completed Day 1 play.
The most prominent of the weekend winners was Canadian poker pro Mike Watson, who is known equally well by his online moniker ‘SirWatts.’
Watson became the tenth player in PokerStars SCOOP history to win five SCOOP titles after taking down Event #66-H $2,100 NLHE. Watson bested a field of 198 entries to bank the winner’s paycheque worth $80.64K. The runner-up ‘hotmark777’ earned $62,088.88 for his efforts.
That’s not all, Watson narrowly missed out on becoming the third player in SCOOP history to win six titles. He missed the Event #65-H $1,050 8-Game title by whiskers, finishing runner-up for $29.09K.
Speaking of the showstopper tourneys on the schedule, it was the mixed game specialist Calvin ‘cal42688’ Anderson, who bagged the most massive overnight stack of 2,732,146 in Event #74-H: $10,300 NLHE 8-Max Main Event $5 Million GTD. One-hundred and ninety-nine players are slated to return to Day 2 with the late registration period open till 10.25 PM IST.
Moldova’s ‘Fenryr03’ was the end-of-day chip leader among the 1,990 survivors in Event #74-M: $1,050 NLHE 8-Max Main Event $5 Million GTD with a stack of 1,565,493. Meanwhile, Belarusian player ‘anarkevich’ leads a pack of 10,697 survivors in Event #74-L: $109 NLHE 8-Max Main Event $3 Million GTD with a stack of 649,584.
Moving over to the PLO Main Events, online phenom Linus ‘LLinusLLove’ Loeliger towers above the 31 survivors in Event #75-H: $10,300 PLO 6-Max Main Event $1.25 Million GTD with a stack of 2,905,441.
Two-hundred and fifty-three players are slated to return to play Day 2 of Event #75-M: $1,050 PLO 6-Max Main Event $750K GTD. China’s ‘icekey888’ holds the chip advantage with a stack of 1,802,496. At the same time, Denmark’s ‘pokerpædagogen’ bagged the most massive stack of 718,888 among the 873 survivors in Event #75-L: $109 PLO 6-Max Main Event $400K GTD.

The biggest buy-in event of the three NLHE Main Events, the $10,300 NLHE buy-in 8-Max Main Event attracted 561 contenders (401 unique and 160 re-entries) on Day 1 to surpass its advertised $5 Million guarantee and accrue a prize pool of $5.61 million. After fifteen 30-minute levels, only 199 players survived. The late registration period has been kept open till 10.25 PM IST today.
Mixed game specialist Calvin’ cal42688’ Anderson leads the charge with a bag full of 2,732,146 chips. Anderson already has an incredible 10 SCOOP titles under his belt and is eyeing his eleventh title in the Main Event.
Canada’s ‘AverageGreg’ (1,963,234), Tomi ‘elmerixx’ Brouk ( 1,788,170) round out the top three stacks at the end of Day 1.
Pavel ‘MountainRo$e’ Veksler (1,767,303), Jack ‘Swaggersorus’ Sinclair (1,663,720), Samuel ‘€urop€an’ Vousden (1,654,576), Pieter ‘XMorphineX’ Aerts (1,533,733), and SCOOP / WCOOP & Sunday Million champion Artem ‘veeea’ Vezhenkov (1,502,258) made the top 10 chip counts list.
Four former SCOOP winners also advanced to Day 2. They include Sami’ Lrslzk’ Kelopuro (769,206), Mustapha ‘lasagnaaammm’ Kanit (190,895), Talal ‘raidalot’ Shakerchi (524,117) and defending champion Gianluca ‘Tankanza’ Speranza (220,675).

The $1,050 buy-in NLHE 8-Max Main Event $5 Million GTD logged in 6,038 entries on Day 1. After 16 25-minute levels of play, the field was whittled down to 1,990 players.
The event has already accumulated $6.04 Million in the prize pool, crushing the $5 Million GTD with late registration open until 10.25 PM IST.
Claiming the end-of-day chip lead was Moldova’s ‘Fenryr03’ with a stack of 1,565,493.
‘ThEcLaiMEer’ (1,555,349), ‘IHackedRNG’ (1,319,263), ‘KissMyAcePlz’ (1,294,402), and ‘sangnv’ (1,269,594) rounded out the top five stacks.
Notables like Patrick ‘pads1161’ Leonard, Marc ‘Rowniwn’ Radgen, Stevan ‘random_chu’ Chew, Damian ‘pampa27’ Salas, Michael ‘merla888’ Gathy, Adrian ‘Amadi_17’ Mateos, Ignat ‘0Human0’ Liviu, Pablo ‘elmelogno4’ Melogno, Daniil ‘Dancer King’ Kiselev, Florencio ‘immortalite3’ Campomanes, Simon ‘Simon1471’ Higgins, Joao ‘Naza114’ Vieira, Luke ‘Bit2Easy’ Reeves, and Artur ‘mararthur1’ Martirosyan have made the onward journey to Day 2.

The #74-L: $109 NLHE 8-Max Main Event $3 Million GTD drew a gigantic field of 42,754 entries on Day 1. After seventeen levels of play, 10,697 survivors packed their bags and will return to Day 2. The numbers are expected to go up with the late registration period open till 5 minutes before the start of Day 2.
The $3 Million guarantee has already been exceeded by a million to accrue $4.27 Million in the prize pool.
Belarusian player ‘anarkevich’ bagged the most massive stack of 649,584 at the end of Day 1. He is followed by ‘mir18282008’ (562,523) and ‘AxelwOw~’ (544,370) to round out the top three stacks.
Some of the notables to book a Day 2 seats include PokerStars Ambassadors Lex ‘L. The biggest of the three PLO Main Events, the $10,300 buy-in PLO 6-Max Main Event, sold 136 registration slips to surpass its advertised $1.25 Million guarantee and garner a prize pool of $1.36 million.
After 15 30-minute levels of play, online superstar Linus’ LLinusLLove’ Loeliger came out on top of the playing field with a massive 2,905,441 stack. He leads the 31 remaining survivors. With late registration kept open till up to 5 minutes before the start of Day 2, these numbers are bound to go up further.
Close of Loeliger’s coattails is Gavin’ gavz101’ Cochrane (2,748,705), and former Main Event winner Talal’ raidalot’ Shakerchi (2,166,252).
Ola ‘Odd_Oddsen’ Amunsgard (1,858,945), Ben ‘Ben86’ Tollerene (1,765,423), and Alexey ‘LuckyGump’ Makarov (1,452,279) are the other notables making the top 10 chip counts list.
Some other prominent players to make it through to Day 2 include, Andras ‘probirs’ Nemeth (1,272,748), Alex ‘dynoalot’ Difelice (1,172,681), Laszlo ‘omaha4rollz’ Bujtas (1,149,175) and Joao ‘INeedMassari’ Simao (735,163).

The event has already accumulated $996K in the prize pool, with the final numbers expected to increase once the late registrations close.
Claiming the end-of-day chip lead was China’s ‘icekey888’ with a stack of 1,802,496. Ignat ‘0 Human0’ Liviu (1,264,629), and ‘slavOuchka’ (1,264,454), rounded out the top three stacks.
Max ‘goodeh99’ Silver (1,224,752), and Noah ‘Exclusive’ Boeken (1,019,529) feature among the other top stacks.

The $109 buy-in PLO 6-Max Main Event $400K GTD drew 6,126 entries on Day 1. After seven hours of intense play, 873 players were able to survive the day’s onslaught.
The massive turnout made short work of the $400K guarantee, with the final tally touching $613K in the prize pool. The top 875 places are assured to min-cash at least $191.
Bagging the overnight chip lead was Denmark’s ‘pokerpædagogen’ with his massive stack of 718,888. He is followed by ‘krihan’ (648,585) and YYYeaHHH’ (598,726).
Denis ‘aDrENalin710’ Strebkov (591,774), Tyler ‘Wonderboy222’ Goatcher (578,482), and Julian’ jutrack’ Track (569,598) round out the other prominent names advancing to Day 2.
