The ongoing Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) is the biggest one that PokerStars has ever hosted. Well into its third week now, SCOOP started out with a massive $85 million in prize pool guarantees. The series was scheduled to wrap up on May 20. Given the overwhelming response to the series, PokerStars has extended SCOOP till the month-end. The series will be playing out an additional 132 events, with the overall prize pool guarantee now bolstered to $135 million! This has helped SCOOP become the biggest online series ever – overtaking the $100 Million guaranteed at the WSOP Super Circuit Online Series.

While the brand’s India-facing site PokerStars India is also hosting its biggest INSCOOP edition, SCOOP has crowned close to 200 champions already. Topping the list of recent winners is Steve ‘Mr. Tim Caum’ O’ Dwyer. The Irish high-stakes legend who has more than $6 million in online winnings, outlasted a field of 89 entries to take down the most expensive tournament on the series yet, the $25,000 Super High Roller. Along with his first-ever SCOOP title, O’Dwyer pocketed a massive $522K paycheque.

Second-place finisher Andras ‘probirs’ Nemeth pocketed $403K for his finish and succeeded in going one better in Event #52-M $2,100 NLHE that he took down to win $157K.

Several success stories have emerged in the ongoing series. Among them are the notable high roller winners Mustapha ‘lasagnaaammm’ Kanit (Event #24-H: $10,300 NLHE High Roller for $272K) and Artur ‘mararthur1’ Martirosyan (Event #17-H: NLHE High Roller 8-Max or $272K). In fact, Martirosyan went on to win his second title in Event #29-H: NLHE Midweek Freeze for $157K.

The biggest revelation at the series has been Connor ‘blanconegro’ Drinan, who stole the limelight towards the end of the week when he won Event #56H: HORSE for a $30K payday. Drinan has won an incredible three other SCOOP titles in the series, namely, Event #34-H: PLO 8-or-better ($34K), Event #40-H: PLO 6-Max ($152K) and Event #45-M NLO8 6-Max PKO ($28K). His phenomenal run at the series has elevated him to the ranks of another SCOOP crusher Shaun Deeb as the only other player to have won four SCOOP titles in a single year. He is also the ninth player in-SCOOP history to have won five titles.

Tournament players can look forward to a blockbuster Sunday with the $109, $1,050, and $10,300 buy-in NLHE Main Events and similarly priced PLO Main Events lined up.
