It’s going to be action time in Pune with a sizzling three-day poker event at the prestigious New World of Sports Club (NWOS) situated in the upscale locality of Koregaon Park. Running from Friday, April 29 to Sunday, May 1, the poker fest will have Spartan Poker hosting online satellites and a special ₹5000 direct buy-in bonus.
Just three hours drive away by the Expressway from Mumbai, players will be able to spend the May 1, Labour Day weekend in Pune, at the NWOS Poker Festival, which will feature cash games and an ₹22,000 buy-in NLH tournament with a huge ₹10 Lakhs guaranteed.
This inaugural edition will begin with the NLH tournament that promises players a prize pool of minimum ₹10 Lakhs. Action will be spread across two entry-flights and will crown a champion on the third day.
Entries will be capped at 50 players per entry flight and those who bust Day 1A can re-enter on Day 1B. Survivors from both flights will return to battle it out on Sunday, May 1.
Spartan Poker – Satellites & Buy-in Bonus
India’s fastest growing online poker site, Spartan Poker will be hosting Mega satellites to the NWOS on April 26, with five seats guaranteed to the event.
Players can either directly buy in to the Mega Satellite or opt for the cheaper Step Satellites that will be running in tandem.
Additionally, players can also directly buy in to the NWOS via Spartan Poker. A reward of ₹5,000 in Spartan Poker bonus money awaits direct buy in players, which can be used to play tournaments or cash games on the site.
Established on January 22 this year by Allen Bansode, Suraj Kusalkar and Rishi Nagpal, the club fronts the Pune Poker Association. The poker room is a vibrant area that caters to the 300 odd members of the club.
Nagpal, who has shifted to Pune from Mumbai a decade ago, speaks about the upcoming event and says that “We have 300 registered members and with participants expected from different parts of the country, I expect we should get about 100 players for the event.”
At this inaugural edition of the festival, the organizers will be focusing on showcasing the NWOS club as a lucrative poker-destination close to the economic capital of the country, while promoting the sport in Pune city.
Besides the regulars from Mumbai and Pune, outstation players are also expected to attend.
This will be just the beginning in making the NWOS an exciting place for players, according to the founders. Nagpal informs that there are major plans underfoot for the game and for club members. One of these will be a subsidized membership at a sports complex developing in the nieghbourhood.
“Players would like to have their own place to have a swim, play a game of snooker or tennis and enjoy some fine cuisine and that too at a sports club which is in the vicinity, so we hope to extend these facilities to them soon,” Nagpal explains.
