Another mega tournament at the 2018 Triton Super High Roller Series Montenegro currently underway at the Maestral Resort & Casino in Budva, Montenegro wrapped up with Triton founder Richard Yong (cover image) shipping the HK$250,000 6-Max tournament.

Yong sailed through a 35 players-field and pipped Steve O’Dwyer to the podium, collecting HK$3,046,000 in prize money. This is Yong’s first title win in the Triton series. In 2017 Yong missed the title in the HK$1,000,000 Main Event at the Triton Super High Roller Series by a whisker finishing runner-up to Manig Loeser. He had also final-tabled the $1 Million-The Big One for One Drop at the 2012 World Series of Poker.

Six players reached the final table of the high stakes tournament and Isaac Haxton finished third picking up HK$1,235,000.

By the time Day 2 of the tournament reached its third level, seven new players had joined in, including Richard Yong and Paul Phua.

As the game progressed, Mikita Badziakouski, Steffen Sontheimer, Stefan Schillhabel and Orpen Kisacikoglu, all made an early exit.

The first big pot of the day was a three-way all in that took Winfred Yu straight to the top of the leaderboard with his flopped queen-high straight holding up against the set of jacks of Dietich Fast, Winfred’s ace-ten suited for middle pair and Ivan Leow’s nut flush draw.

Soon Christian Christner, Manig Leoser and Dominik Nitsche lost their stacks to Steve O’Dwyer.

Then Julian Thomas`s ace-nine suited failed to get there against Stephan Chidwick’s pocket jacks and Korey Aldemir`s ace-queen were cracked by Isaac Haxton’s eight-seven, forcing both Korey and Julian Thomas out of the tournament.

Down to seven players, Chidwick bubbled the event to go home empty handed forming the final table.

Final Table Recap

On final table, O’Dwyer, who had lost a considerable part of his stack before the money bubble now found it replenished after the min-cash was locked up.

Chan Wai Leong lost a flip to Yu (6th for HK$494,000) following which O’Dwyer moved all-in holding middle pair with jack-seven against the Cheong Cheok Leng’s king-ten suited for top pair. Dwyer’s move worked well for him after a jack completed the board and Cheong Cheok Leng was eliminated in fifth place for HK$617,000.

Within the next 30 minutes the game reached its climax when Yu three-bet with his seven-five suited holding both straight and flush draws against O’Dwyer. Here, O’Dwyer called with a set of eights to take a massive chip lead and Yu bounced off in fourth place with HK$864,000.

Isaac Haxton then moved all-in with ace-queen but he was unable to hold on against Yong’s king-ten with a king opening on the flop and with that the former was shown the door in third place for HK$1,235,000.

Yong had a lot of ground to cover heads-up but he kept chipping up from O’Dwyer to even things out. Yong then pulled out ace-deuce to call a river-shove by O’Dwyer, who missed his straight draw that left the latter struggling. O’Dwyer did manage a double-up to somewhat recover but shortly thereafter he got it in with bottom two pair against Yong’s superior two pairs to concede the title.
