At a time when the COVID-19 threat is looming wide and large, live tournament action has finally taken flight at the King’s Resort in Rozvadov. A casino that boasts of being Europe’s biggest gambling venue played host to a €2,500 buy-in 2020 King’s Resort €100K GTD PLO High Roller on Sunday.
With travel restrictions in Europe easing out, the tournament did well to register 60 entries that helped generate a guarantee busting €128,250 prize pool. In the end, it was two-time bracelet winner Roger Hairabedian (cover image) who emerged triumphant after defeating Germany`s Christian Stratemeyer to the victory lane. The French poker veteran pocketed €40,401 for his efforts.
Day 1 of the tournament began amid a host of stringent restrictions enforced by the venue, keeping health and safety in mind.
There were six levels of 30-minute duration played out, and late registration remained open for the first four levels on Day 2. By the time the registrations were closed, the field had trimmed down to 22 players.
The prospect of a live tournament and too at a prominent venue created quite the buzz. Some of the big names who joined the action included Eric Lescot and Jonas Kronwitter.

Only seven players on the nine-handed final table got paid.
Hassan Mattout was eliminated in ninth place before casino regular ‘The Talk’ hit the rail as the bubble boy.
Hairabedian, who’d entered the final table as the chip leader, went on to eliminate Ossama Khamis and Jonas Kronwitter in seventh and sixth place, respectively, further pulling ahead of the rest.
Short-stacked Andreas Bremer was booted out by Christian Stratmeyer in fifth place.
Several hands later, Hairabedian sent Harry Casagrande packing in fourth place after hitting a winning flush. Eric Lescot became Hairabedian`s next victim in third place.
Hairabedian entered the heads-up holding a commanding lead with 1,900,000 against Christian Stratmeyer`s 1,060,000. The clash was short-lived, and soon Stratmeyer, who was down to 250,000, moved all-in. Hairabedian called.

The flop wasn’t good for Stratmeyer and the turn sealed the victory for Hairabedian. The on the river was irrelevant.
