October 21 was a hectic day onboard the floating Casino Deltin Royale where three events of World Poker Tour (WPT) India were running at the same time. It was a red-letter day for Team PokerGuru with PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Munot (₹55K Main Event for ₹63.48* Lakhs), and PokerGuru Staking’s Madhav Gupta (₹20K MegaStack for ₹5.33 Lakhs) both picking up WPT titles. Yasheel Doddanavar (₹100K High Roller for ₹34.64 Lakhs) was the third player who won a WPT trophy last night. All this hullabaloo predictably drew the attention away from the online felts, resulting in overlays in many online majors last night.

Headlining the virtual action, as usual, was Spartan Poker that rolled out its immensely popular Spartan Super Series (SSS) yesterday. A total of six tournaments were hosted on the opening day, but the biggest SSS tourney to play out was the SSS#5 ReCharge ₹14 Lakhs GTD. With 644 entries (294 unique, 118 re-entries, and 232 rebuys) coming in, there was a significant ₹1.12 Lakhs shortfall. Taking home the biggest share of the high value on offer was ‘BatteryDead’ who won the event for ₹2.71 Lakhs. The other prominent event at the SSS series was the SSS #6 Hi-Fi ₹8 Lakhs GTD that found a winner in Ramji Kishore ‘bluffpolice123’ G, who pocketed ₹1.53 Lakhs for his win. The Ultimate PLO ₹2 Lakhs GTD was one of the non-SSS tournaments hosted by the portal yesterday and was taken down by online phenom Sam ‘Lokimon’ Anand for ₹60,000.

There was a palpable slowdown on PokerBaazi with the signature Monday event – The Bout ₹10 Lakhs GTD – managing to accrue only 230 entries (131 unique and 99 re-entries) resulting in an overlay of ₹80,000. In the end, it was Sahil ‘ImHighIshove’ Mahboobani taking home the title and the top prize of ₹2.35 Lakhs. Over at the Monday Megastack ₹3 Lakhs GTD, a total of 123 entries (77 unique and 46 re-entries) converged on the felts, again leading to a shortfall of about ₹54,000. ‘Chennaino1’ emerged champion and took home ₹80,400 for his efforts.

Over on Poker Dangal, the Dangal 100 Max Series is back for its second innings. The series features a collective prize pool guarantee of ₹15 Lakhs over 20 events and ₹1 Lakh in Leaderboard prizes. The series will host four events daily all the way through October 25. The biggest Monday tourney to crown a champion was the 100 Max Event #3 ₹100K GTD. The event logged in 119 entries (88 unique and 31 re-entries) and drove past the advertised guarantee to collect ₹1.19 Lakhs in prize money. ‘ankit111’ emerged the champion and won ₹23,800.

Adda52’s overlay woes have become a persistent thorn for the site. Monday was no different as both the big guarantee events hosted on the site – Goa Fest ₹8 Lakhs GTD and Hexagram ₹2.5 Lakhs GTD – failed to meet their advertised guarantees. While the Goa Fest was taken down by ‘PerlJammer’ for ₹1.94 Lakhs, the Hexagram ₹2.5 Lakhs GTD was shipped by ‘Dcs007’ for ₹71,250.

PokerStars India has recently adopted a trend of reducing the guarantees of its flagship events, possibly to avoid overlays, and it seems to be working as both the Monday Hustle ₹5 Lakhs GTD and Zoom 3-Max Progressive KO ₹1.5 Lakhs GTD were able to eclipse their offered guarantees yesterday. The Monday Hustle was championed by ‘The AnnihiIator’ for ₹1.04 Lakhs, and the Zoom 3-Max Progressive KO saw ‘rdx1111’ topping the 108 entries (65 unique and 43 re-entries) to win ₹34,017.

Where the leading online poker portals registered overlays, it was no surprise that 9stacks’ daily mainstay event, StackUp @8pm ₹2.5 Lakhs GTD, would suffer the same fate. Logging in 155 entries (96 unique, 33 re-entries and 26 rebuys), the event had a shortfall of ₹16,500. ‘sheldon’ came out on top in the event to win ₹65,000 after defeating ‘grovahova’ heads-up.
