Two big winners were crowned at the Caribbean Poker Party Festival that is being hosted at Melia Caribe Tropical.

It was a trailblazing week for Sam Greenwood with many calling it one of the greatest weeks for a player in poker history. Greenwood first bagged a third-place finish in the $10,300 High Roller followed by a runner up finish in the $25,500 Super High Roller. He had already banked $366,850 coming into the headline $5,300 MILLIONS Main Event and added a whopping $1,000,000 to his scorecard after shipping the highlight event of the series.

Running alongside the $5,300 MILLIONS Main Event was the $5,300 MILLIONS Finale that saw Spainā€™s Adrian Mateos emerging victorious!

$5,300 MILLIONS Main Event

The $5,300 MILLIONS Main Event tournament drew a massive field of 1,061 entries across three starting flights that generated a massive $5,145,850 prize pool with the top 111 places making it in the money.

The money bubble fell on Kevin Eyster on Day 3 of the event and the floodgates of eliminations opened thereon.

Some notables who fell shy of the eight-handed final table included partypoker Chairman Mike Sexton (24th place – $34,000), Maria Ho (25th place – $34,000), Ismael Bojang (39th place – $27,500), Steffen Sontheimer (49th place – $22,500), Seth Davies (55th place – $22,500), Joseph Cheong (58th place – $20,000), Alex Foxen (65th place -$17,500), Brandon Cantu (74th place – $15,000), and Martin Jacobson (92nd place – $10,000).

Final Table Recap

At one point on the final table, eventual champion Greenwood was down to just 2.5 big blinds but he maneuvered his way to the top so well that even his heads-up rival Andrey Shatilov couldnā€™t get anything going against the fierce champion.

The last hand of the event saw Greenwood opening with and Shatilov called holding . The flop fell and Greenwood led out once again while Shatilov check-called to see the turn open . Shatilov checked again and Greenwood fired a huge bet with his over pair putting Shatilov in a spot. Shantilov tanked for a while and eventually decided to check-raise all in. Greenwood snap-called. The peeled on the board and just like that Greenwood was crowned the champion!

Post his win, Greenwood said, “It was just crazy, I don’t think I have ever run this good. I won so many all ins and I’m happy with how well I played. In the high rollers, it was more of a steady climb but in the main, I was all in so many times.”

$5,300 MILLIONS Finale

The $5,300 MILLIONS Finale event gathered a strong field of 215 entries and outlasting them all was Spainā€™s poker phenom Adrian Mateos who pocketed the $250,000 first prize.

Mateos topped a stacked final table that included the likes of Manig Loeser, Kenny Hallaert, and the eventual runner-up, partypoker sponsored pro Anatoly Filatov.

The grueling heads-up match between Filatov and Mateos lasted for over an hour. The two exchanged a thin lead back and forth repeatedly until Mateos changed the gears to dominate his rival. Filatov became short and Mateos capitalized on the opportunity to win the title. On the final hand, Filatov got his short stack in with six-five suited and Mateos called off with ace-jack off-suit. The board blanked out crowning Mateos the champion!
