It was another relatively slow day for online poker, headlined by the usual mainstays on the sites. Nonetheless, the likes of Sanket Arora and Rajat Sharma made spectacular title sprees, along with big scores by Young Guns Shravan Chhabria and Anujkumar Kodam, Srijan Batra, Gagandeep Singh, and the poker playing couple, Anirban D. Das and Mahima Walia Das.

Let’s take a quick look at the Thursday highlights.

Spartan Poker

Thursdays on Spartan Poker are usually dominated by the Ultron, and sure enough, with the FTS now well in the rear-view mirror, the 20 Lakhs GTD tourney returned for another run. A total of 471 runners flocked to the virtual felts, which meant that the tourney had to fill in a 1.16 Lakhs overlay deficit. Rising atop the competition after nearly eight hours of play was ‘papertiger.’ This mystery player banked a personal-best (on Spartan Poker) 3.23 Lakhs after striking a three-way deal with Srijan ‘TheDawnFacere’ Batra (runner-up for 2.71 Lakhs) and Gagandeep ‘gaganhyd’ Singh (3rd for 2.62 Lakhs).

Gagandeep Singh

Manash ‘Ravenclaws’ Kalita (4th for 1.57 Lakhs), Wednesday’s Destiny champion Sandeep ‘SandeeSingh’ Singh (5th for 1.23 Lakhs) and Anubhav ‘KillaBot’ Ray (8th for 50,400) also FT-ed the Ultron.

The first-ever Millionaire United champion Mahima ‘mambojojo’ Walia Das, was another player on the prowl last night. While her spouse Anirban D. Das placed runner-up in PokerBaazi’s The Summit, Mahima grabbed the 7.5 Lakhs GTD Monster Stack title, pocketing 1.90 Lakhs. Vivek ‘acchemicals’ Karwa finished runner-up for 1.21 Lakhs.

Mahima Walia Das

Mahima Walia Das also placed 14th in the Ultron for 27,600, crossing the 1 Crore-mark in recorded earnings on Spartan Poker. She boasts of an impressive 57.41 Lakhs in net profits on the site.

PokerStars India

The day`s featured tourney on PokerStars India was the 12 Lakhs GTD Highroller. The 7:30 PM tourney was one of the two qualifying tourneys awarding TLB points for the “Star of the Month” – December leaderboard race, and ended up overlaying 52,000 after 164 entries signed up to play. Twenty-seven players finished ITM, and MTT specialist Rajat ‘sharabikebabi’ Sharma worked his way to the top of the field to win 3.62 Lakhs. Vinod ‘1veyleague’ Megalmani finished runner-up for 1.80 Lakhs.

Rajat Sharma

If Sharma ran over the stacked Highroller FT, he added a second title last night in PokerBaazi’s The Summit, banking a cumulative 6.04 Lakhs for the day. With lifetime MTT winnings of 5.90 Crores and his current winning trajectory, it would be safe to assume that Sharma could be making an entry in the ‘6 Crores Club’ pretty soon.

Armaan ‘armaan007111’ Kochhar (3rd for 1.34 Lakhs), Neeraj ‘SelfClaimedPro’ Kumar (5th for 75,131) and Young Gun Arsh ‘BiggggTymeR’ Grover (6th for 56,058) and Vineet ‘TheMentalistNo1’ Kumar (9th for 27,199) were others who FT-ed the Highroller.

PokerGuru Ambassador Shashank ‘GOAT-245’ Desai was the other Thursday night champion on PokerStars India. The MTT pro navigated his way across 193 entries in the 5 Lakhs GTD Battle Royale to win 1.17 Lakhs.

Shashank Desai

The 1 Lakhs GTD Bigstack Turbo garnered 98 entries, and all 17 ITM finishers lapped up TLB points for the December leg of the “Star of the Month” leaderboard race.

Siddharth ‘gangnam gangi’ Gangwar was the last player standing and won 19,712 following a heads-up deal with ‘RAV1619‘ (runner-up for 19,584).

Adda52

The 25 Lakhs GTD Godfather dominated the Thursday night action on Adda52. Putting up the biggest prize pool guarantee of the day, the tourney logged in a guarantee-smashing 556 entries (262 unique and 294 re-entries) to collect 27.80 Lakhs. The 8 PM tourney took a marathon 10 hours to crown a champion, with Sanket ‘blackcod’ Arora walking away with the title and his best-recorded finish on Adda52 worth 6.53 Lakhs.

Sanket Arora
Sanket Arora

Before this win, Arora’s recent prominent score was his third-place finish in the Destiny on Spartan Poker last Wednesday for 2.37 Lakhs. Yesterday, he knocked out a string of seasoned regs, including his heads-up opponent Goonjan ‘gmtesting’ Mall (runner-up for 3.80 Lakhs), to win the tourney. Arora is currently sitting on 2.99 Crores in recorded lifetime winnings.

Shravan ‘sweatmyass13’ Chhabria (3rd for 2.52 Lakhs), Young Gun Anujkumar ‘thekinganuj’ Kodam (4th for 1.94 Lakhs), Ayan ‘gutshotguru1’ Ray (5th for 1.39 Lakhs) and Pradip ‘Nit2Donk’ Ghosh (6th for 97,300) were others who FT-ed the Godfather.

Kodam ended up running deep in both the Adda52 marquee tourneys last night. He placed second in the 5 Lakhs GTD Monster Turbo with 285 entries signing up to play. Kodam finished runner-up to ‘IamINEVITABLE,’ who pocketed the 1.71 Lakhs up-top, with the former collecting 99,394 for his efforts. This, combined with Kodam`s fourth-place finish in the Godfather, brought his total winnings to 2.93 Lakhs.

Anujkumar Kodam

Our former Young Guns were clearly in breakout form yesterday, and another name that stands out is Shravan Chhabria. The former actor not only placed third in the Godfather but also FT-ed PokerBaazi’s The Summit – banking 60,300 from a seventh-place finish.

Shravan Chhabria

Another player with multiple FT scores to his name was Pradip ‘Nit2Donk’ Ghosh. He placed sixth in the Godfather for 97,300, and seventh in the Monster Turbo for 19,238, rounding up 1.16 Lakhs in total winnings on Thursday.

PokerBaazi

PokerBaazi’s Thursday night flagship, the 15 Lakhs GTD The Summit, had 194 contenders ponying up the 8,250 entry buy-in, resulting in an overlay of 45,000. Rajat ‘LungFakeer’ Sharma was definitely on the warpath last night. If Sharma championed PokerStars India`s 7:30 PM Highroller, he did the same at The Summit that started just 30 minutes later. Sharma defeated Anirban D ‘pottysingh’ Das heads-up to win 3.62 Lakhs – raking in a massive 6+ Lakhs from the two wins.

Das had to concede to a runner-up finish worth ₹2.54 Lakhs.
